I know, but he is also an undersized PG, finally with Goran we have a RIGHT sized one. For me Goran is the best of both Kyle and AB......and that is pretty amazing. He can score and beat people on the bounce like AB, and he plays great defense like Kyle.....and he is a better passer than both of them. I hope Morey makes that same conclusion, it would suck to watch him become a top PG in the league playing somewhere else. DD
I agree. I don't understand where this "Goran can play the 2" talk comes from. Goran is primarily a playmaker who creates of the dribble and sets his teammates up. I haven't seen him do much catch and shoot this season. He is a pg. Maybe because of his height? Sure he can probably defend the 2 gaurd position but it would be a total waste of his skill set to have him play shooting gaurd.
I would love Goran back, but the contract shouldn't be crazy like in 8 digits. How would you feel if Rockets traded Lowry + Patterson and maybe Dallas pick for NJ pick
Height is also a factor here. He is barely breaking 6 feet. You have to be a really special player at that height to be a star productive level player e.g. Paul. Goran is 6' 4". That is actually above average for a starting pg in this league. On top of that his is as quick and fast as any other pg and he has height. That is what makes him special.
There is a difference between playing for Byron Scott's PG-oriented offense and McHale's do-what-you-want-offense. Dragic is not comparable to Collison. He showed flashes as a reserve prior to becoming a starter (especially for the Suns).
Agreed DD. The two most important things for a creator and a PG is finishing that the rim with contact and making the perfect pass where a player can finish in a smooth motion instead of just making a good pass. As far as i have seen, Dragic is better than Lowry at both of those things without much loss on defensive or 3-pt shooting. He is worth a nice contract. Fact is that today's NBA is more point guard run than ever. You really need have to have a legitimate top 10 point guard or at least someone playing at that level to truly be a contender. Because of that any point guard who looks to be that caliber will get huge offers from any team looking to upgrade that position. It is supply and demand. A $10 million contract would then be expected and actually not too much. Essentially, there is no point in skimping and saving on every single deal, trade, transaction if you do not use all that you have saved to get the player you need every once in a while.
Nash is not better than CP3, the torch has been passed since 2009 Nash plays no D at all. His PER is not even close to Paul, and Paul has made the garbage Clippers into a playoff team
Actually Byron Scott is a terrible PG Coach. Absolutely awful CP3 was not averaging 10 plus assists, until they got Tyson Chandler, and then he started throwing up alley-oops CP3 on the 2004-2007 Phoenix Suns... Those guys win it all.
Well seems like you asked the same question in the other thread and ignored the response. So I'll just post it here again. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/Htc0vCp0eGc" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
We definitely have a great tandem at the point. With that said, I am still laughing that you posted Fantasy Player Ratings to back up your reasoning
Wow what planet are you on? Terrible PG coach? Look at all the PGs who have been successful under him- Starbury, Kidd, B-Diddy, CP3, Collison, Mo Will, Kyrie. CP3 wasn't averaging 10 assists because he had nobody to pass it to. As for the last statement, no real basis for it. Nash was the perfect PG for that D'Antoni system (it just isn't the type of system which can win a championship in this league).
You're missing the basic problems of defensive matchups and the most efficient way to use your players. Here is my post from another thread. Quote: Originally Posted by mazinger He's good no matter where. And no, Dragic is not better than Lowry. If anything, we can trade Martin or let Lee go and put Dragic at the 2. That's just completely false. Dragić has never been a good enough shooter to be really effective at that, with the exception of the last couple of weeks, but I think that will be hard to sustain. And his terrific length at the pg position becomes a negative mismatch on defense, because the bigger shooting guards can shoot over him. He loses his confidence, his efficiency plummets and he becomes a shadow of his current self. Like I already said in another thread, he's not a potent shooter, but he is a potential offensive threat from anywhere on the floor. As a primary guard he's putting that to amazing use by consistently breaking down the opposing defense and finishing or finding the open man - that's the bread and butter of his game. If you take that away from him, you limit his effectiveness considerably. I'm not trying to debate who's the better point guard, or who should start when Lowry comes back. But what's perfectly clear to me is that Dragić is not a 2, you're limiting his production and efficiency by playing him at that position and any long-term experiment trying to do that would fail. You can get away with that in stints, but signing him to a long term contract and expecting him to do that consistently would not work.
NO! Because they were not sexy number one picks! so they both suck. we need to tank and get stars that have that same player rating. stars! stars! stars! =/ * we do have the best guards tandem. keep all of them. =)
Let's stop the Dragic at SG talk. He's not as good at SG, going up against bigger and stronger players. You're taking his advantage away, much like playing Chuck at the 5. Morey won't pay what he's worth as a 1 to get less production at the 2. Someone else will gladly give them more to play the PG spot.
Then would you rather let him walk instead? Dragic has already demonstrated that he is a terrific player. It's not about how to best utilize, it's about the best option available. With 30 minutes to go around, Dragic could play the two and the one. With Lee coming in once in a while to sub in one of them. Dragic can play the two, and it's not implausible seeing that Clippers have had much success. Make the same argument for Hayes, he is a power forward but not a center. But Hayes at center is better than anything else we had for center.
