Too early to call Tiger out of this. The Leaderboard has stayed at -5 and he is only 8 down with 36 to play. He comes into day 3 and shoot a 68 and BAM......right back into it. I dont see the eventual winner at much better then 6 or 7 under. If Tiger is within 5 shots Sunday.......Be worried.
Anybody, including Tiger, could still win it. But golf is such a fickle game and Augusta is such a fickle course, unless someone is a groove of completely dominant play, picking a winner is folly; as evidenced by the number of long-shot, no-names that have won since Tiger's emotional destruction. Even with the Bay Hill win, Tiger was no better than 20-1 because there are at least 20 players in the field with an equal game. With the greens running a little slow it looks like there will be a bunch at the top for Sunday. (then somebody will shoot 66 to win). There will be roars!
Tiger's tantrums were childish yesterday I don't see him coming back from where he's at. It not only would take a herculean effort, but also require jumping so many people
Would be very, very shocked if winner isn't at least 9 under, probably double figures. The reason the course was so difficult Friday was cool and windy conditions, which won't be the case today and tomorrow at all. Of the 18 guys within three shots of the lead, at least a couple will shoot a 69 and 67 or such over the weekend. And "be worried"? This is why it's so easy for me to cheer against Tiger: his supporters are nauseating. He hasn't won a major in four years. He had all of three top 10 finishes in 2010 and 2011 combined. His game seems to be improving, which is nice, but to act like there's some "fear" if he gets within five shots is just laughable. It's not 2001 anymore.
totally agree with you. i have this ongoing debate with a friend regarding tiger. he thinks tiger is going to be ranked #1 by the end of the year. i just don't see it happening. it think he has lost it mentally.
Nonsense they're just scared of Tiger... speaking of Tiger are you going to his 'surprise' party tonight?
This should be a good final round. can Hanson handle having the lead? Will Phil take over or someone else move up
That will be a memorable shot, but I don't think it was as hard as it looked. Bubba likes to play a big draw most of the time, so that shot was custom made for him. I was surprised he hit it so close to the hole, and the fact it was during a playoff made it that much better. The shot of the tournament has to go to Oosthuizen. He made a double eagle on the second hole today! You almost never see a double eagle, and for it to happen in the final round of the Masters makes it even more special. Too bad for him it didn't lead to victory, but still an amazing shot.
