You can't talk mess to the refs. They are strict about that rule, as it gets fans riled up. Truth is the media controls more than I thought it did. I don't even think Stern is a bad guy. He's looking out for his business and 1 minute of NBA coverage on national news networks is something he can't buy. Ignore their memos and you don't get the exposure. Also, there's something called the half time line.
I love Bill Worrell, I hope he never leaves the Rockets. Listening to other broadcasts, we really have it good here, a homerism announcer with enthusiasm which is rare.
Because NBA officiating is that bad. It's that simple. Bill's doing what more media types should do - use whatever minimal influence they have to call it out. If it gets better, he'll stop whining.
I thought last night especially was bad from the refereeing standpoint, and I'm glad Worell called it out. I enjoy having a homer for a commentator because they give us the inside information and they get just as excited as we do when the Rockets make a big play. The guys doing national TV won't give a damn about you unless you're the Thunder, Bulls etc. I like our crew as it stands. Drexler wears on the nerves every now and then, but he's a Houston legend. Hard to see him go.
bill is a legend man.....if you dont like him you can watch the other commentators on nbatv since we never get our commentators even if it is a home game. Freakin bias nba
what I find funny .. those idiots on the air who dislike bill for his homerism, but enjoy other commentators from their favorite teams because those commentators are "fans". A lot of that going around. FUBAR. I know it's shocking but I like my local announcers for my local team to be as passionate as I am about my team. The commissar's minions do suck. I wish everyone got a foul call whether it is Speights or Griffin. if it's a foul. it's a foul.
for those of you saying the lakers got all the calls last night...they deserved it The only player we have that attacks the rim is Lee and he draws away from contact. We are never going to get calls until we have a superstar and someone who goes hard to the rim looking for contact. simple as that
