    Mavs lost tonight at home to Portland. I was keeping an eye on the box, hoping they would win because we want them in the top 10 teams at the end of the year to get their draft pick.

    I noticed ItsMyFault and other fans wanted them to lose -- the Rockets are very close to passing the Mavs and moving up the West ladder. Having Dallas slip behind us very likely means the Rockets won't get their draft pick this season.

    What are you rooting for?

    For them to lose, this is bigger than the Rockets becoming the 6th seed after a championship. If they would drop out of the playoffs, that would be the best. Rockets can use any help they can get with the referees out to get us and nobody on the Rockets organisation willing to say anything about it. Bunch of p*****s, worried about losing a little money!!

    We don't lose a pick if we pass Mavs, it just gets moved on to the next year.

    On the other hand, we have everything to lose if we don't make the playoffs.

    I guess it depends on how valuable a 20th+ pick is in the next draft.

    It's just too much a part of my nature to want the Mavs to lose (unless they are playing the Lakers).

    I can understand that, but draft picks are pretty important to me... with this being a deep draft, I would think the Rockets could flip a couple of picks. I'm hoping the Mavs end up in the top 10.

    I am OK one way or another. Just want the Rockets to make the playoffs. So, if the Mavs are going to fall out of the top 8, then great-- seem unlikely though. Otherwise, not sure I have a huge preference among OKC, SAS and LAL as a first round opponent-- all talented teams. As for the pick, don't care if we get it this year, next year or whenever. It's an assets that can be kept or traded at any time either way. The Rockets don't particularly need to add yet another rookie to the roster right away and I am not sure the 20-30th pick this season is hugely more talented than those in other seasons. The ideal situation, of course, would be the Rockets not get it for 5 years and then get an unprotected pick (and the Mavs stink that year) but that's a long shot too.

    So, I guess my take is:

    If he dies, he dies.

    I don't care. It's just a 20-25ish pick. I'll be happy if we get the pick, happy to see Dallas knocked out first round by OKC... either way I'm happy.
