Grade C, and drop it a letter if Wade leaves.

I believe we've had success primarly despite our head coach, not because of him. He continues to show me that he doesn't know how to manage a clock, how to use his two running backs properly, or how to play "to win" (as opposed to playing "not to lose").

Kubiak is an average coach. He has taken far too long to get our team where we are and I believe a better coach could do a lot better with this team.

I’m honestly wondering if you wrote that response 3 years ago and just blindly pasted it here. I think a lot of ideas get stuck in people’s heads and once they draw a conclusion about it… come hell or high water, they’re going to ride them into a far away ditch ….

Let’s start with your most egregious point - Kubiak is certainly not above criticism - but when it comes to the running game, his credentials are very nearly unassailable. Foster/Tate last year combined for nearly 3,000 all purpose yards, averaged 4.8 YPC and scored 16 TDs. I mean, of ALL the things you could have dinged him for.... picking on the running game almost instantly invalidates any other point. He used them improperly? I’m at a total loss what you could possibly mean. He had a strange substitution pattern with Foster in 2010. But last year?

As for the other points... I’ve always thought the clock management meme was overblown – but I don’t recall any instance of it rearing its ugly head last year, when, btw, they won 11 games - other than justifiably dancing around a 5th round, third-string rookie *for six games*, I didn't see a lot of hedging from Kubiak. I can point to the Baltimore regular season game, as well as the Falcon game as two right off the top of my head where he most certainly did not “play to lose.”

I would love examples from last year that illustrate any of your three points.

Can you list some examples of this from the 2011 season?

Also, what is the difference between winning and not losing? Did we have any ties last year?

EDIT: beaten to the punch again... Thanks a lot, Ric.

To me, the best way to describe Kubiak is "fluctuating mediocrity." I can name many things he does very well, and many things he does horribly. Overall, he's just like his record indicates, a .500 coach.

But like everyone else, giving Wade Phillips the key to our defense make Kubiak much better, because most of the things he does horribly came on defense.

Very little, Wade rescued him last season. Didn't like the way the regular season ended, at all. Still think he is below par and the Texans could do much better.

    Despite our coach? That's hilarious.

Manage a clock? Really? When did this happen in 2011?

The running backs point is hilariously stupid.

He didn't play to win in the playoffs? He just SAT ON THE BALL, huh?

    This offense>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Just watched the entire game again. You're right - that was all Kubiak. It had nothing to do with our 3rd-string QB throwing 3 INTs or Jacoby muffing a punt inside the 20 yard line.

We could have overcome all of that if Kubiak would have just played to win.

Floor is yours, Plowman, since your two buddies vacated it quickly - please cite examples for us to discuss.
