I'm not defending the bullet; it needs no defending. The circumstances of what happened that night are still unclear and so unknown except for the end-result. GZ could be guilty of something or he could not be guilty. At this point (after more than a month) he has not been charged with ANYTHING so calling him a murderer just seems inflammatory. There is reasonable doubt about what happened that night... unlike the OJ case which could not be proven in criminal court. At least it was proven in civil court. Even though OJ was not found guilty in the criminal case there is little doubt that he did it. There is no doubt that GZ killed TM but it was a complicated scenario and so far GZ has not even been charged with a crime has he?
how is "all-star game" a tag for this thread? lol just for the record, i'll state my opinion again. the news shouldn't make any swinging judgements on any case until they have all of the facts confirmed. at the very least, inform your viewers that the facts are being determined still and everything reported is heresay at the moment. also, news media, don't sensationalize every story for ratings. anyone who denies that cnn and others deliberately labeled zimmerman as a "white-hispanic" in order to incite racial feelings is fooling themselves. not only did they use that card, they also constantly displayed a picture of a young teen who was so innocent. personally, i think the kid was innocent, whether he approached zimmerman or not, if he was being followed, he probably felt concerned for his safety and had every right to approach the guy. but the picture doesnt depict the kid who died, and the label of "white-hispanic" doesn't fit zimmerman. my recommendation to anyone walking alone in a foreign neighborhood at night. 1) don't wear a hoodie 2) don't go out when it's raining 3) if someone confronts YOU, suck it up and walk away. my reccomendation to anyone pursuing a suspicious person: 1) don't continue to follow them when the police say so 2) don't bring a gun 3) dont shoot anyone zimmerman should go to jail, not because he shot an unarmed kid, or because he started the fight, or because he is a racist. none of these are proven beyond a reasonable doubt yet. he should go to jail because he had a gun on the neighborhood watch (which is prohibited) and because he shot and killed someone after being told TO STOP FOLLOWING THE KID. the kid never pulled out a weapon, you don't need to shoot someone who threatens you, or even someone who hits you. if you want to carry a gun, you have to be smart enough to NOT use it. this is not a race issue to me.
Did you not state that Martin "wasn't concerned for his safety" and that he attacked Zimmerman even though he was out of harms way? That was you right? Should I quote you?...I think I'll quote you. Is that not you insinuating that Martin escalated this event when he should have "just went to his fathers house". That's you right doggie? I wouldn't worry too much about if I know what hypocrite means Wordsmith, I love how you just drip pseudo-intellectual all over the keyboard "No no good sir, the proper meaning of chase is blah blah blah", and you get upset when someone bust you on not knowing the difference between thievery and stealing. It's ok, you're on the side of the argument with bigtex, gwayneco and esteban. You guys are without a shadow of a doubt the brain trust of the board.
I said "IF" and that was in response to a scenario that you had proposed. I had suggested that the safety of home made sense while all of "you" suggested that would have been stupid or cowardly. If you are going to quote me, at least try not to lift things out of context in a desperate attempt.
Agree about the fights usually ending in injuries not death. Don't know what went through Zimmerman's head when he was getting pummelled or if Martin tried to grab the gun from him. Hopefully the Police will figure it out. I just hope that with the attention drawn to the case, we get a thorough investigation that comes with an outcome that eases the mind of the parents whether that be Zimmerman going to jail or them coming to a conclusion that he was defending himself. They have to live and learn to cope with that hurt. Thanks for a good discussion and for your comments regarding the situation with my son. Absolute worst day of my life getting a call from the Police about the incident and then driving home trying to figure out how to tell my wife what happened.
So would you pass on your notes from the on scene investigation that you performed? Murder is the unlawful killing, with malice aforethought, of another human.
There are marks to the back of his head and at least one witness to Trayvon being on top of Zimmerman......
the 911 call had someone calling for help and he definitely wasn't zimmerman. you're not gonna wait for trayvons autopsy results (if his hands has signs of pummelling someone) and zimmerman's official medical results? or the current witness is cross-examined and found out to be lying or what if another witness came out saying something different? http://www.csmonitor.com/USA/2012/0...-still-not-answered/Was-George-Zimmerman-hurt
So tell us definitively what happened on the night that Trayvon Martin died. You can't, can you? Okay, try. Regarding OJ, he was IN FACT found not guilty in the criminal trial but found guilty in the civil trial of violating Nicole's civil rights. What say you?
OJ = Black Victims = White Zimmerman = White Hispanic Victim = Black That is a huge difference you need to consider. Personally, I think OJ acted in self defense.
The same can happen in this case, how would you feel about that outcome. Its amazing that you know OJ was definitely guilty but for some reason Zimmerman gets every benefit of the doubt.
