These inadvertant eye injuries are getting out of hand. Some type of eyewear should be required for all players. Thoughts??
You can't prevent every injury out there. Should we also put them in full football equipment too? Ultimately, it should be up to the players to determine how much protection they want to use.
Teams will provide eye wear if the players want it. Should there be mandatory face masks as well? Arm and knee braces?
well in hockey the players are using sticks so their hands are occupied, therefore they are not likely to poke someone in the eye.. Basketball requires the fingers to be flying all over the place.
How often do serious eye injuries happen in the NBA?? I mean of course it happens, Stoudemire comes to mind, but is it really an ailing issue?
So what do you want to do? Force players to wear protective eye goggles? Don't have their arms above the shoulders? Fine them?
getting hit in the eye with a puck going however many miles per hour is much more dangerous than getting poked by some fingers.
For those who are saying that it is not that big of an issue, yes you are right. Yet, it's better to be safe than sorry.
I dunno. Do I need my balls grabbed to get on an airplane? That's for authoritarians to decide. Just make sure to wipe my ass when you're enforcing the toilet seatbelt rule.
Most players don't want to wear eye goggles. They think it messes up their vision on the court. It's up to the player to protect what they want to protect. If they don't worry about it then why should we?
