Man, it hurts to watch old clips of the big guy ballin. He had talent, character, and humility, reminiscent of Hakeem. And the potential to become the greatest 7 footer ever. He won the hearts and minds of Houston, and made basketball fans of people all over the world. To me, he will always be a Houston Rocket, wherever his travels may take him. (His last photo in a Rockets uniform) Spoiler
What made that last game against Portland so special was how the crowd never stopped chanting "DEFENSE" and "Let's Go Rockets!", even when the Rockets were up 20 points in the fourth. It's as if, after so many years of failure, everyone in that building saw blood in the water and they weren't going to let up until Portland was dead and gone.
If we sneak in and get the Thunder it will probably be an ugly series for us. Any other team and I can see us possibly getting the upset.
No one is asking the haters to watch. Since some of you have your mind set that there is no way we will win a series in the playoffs, why watch? I don't know about you, but I am excited about playoff basketball. Remember last lockout when an 8th seed won. Why can't an 8th/7th seed win one series?(if we make the playoffs)
Brings tears to my eyes That team was stacked as hell in almost every position. If only Mac Mac didn't declare that damn surgery and we got Carter. Why does the bball God hate us so much.......................................................
honestly..i almost cried from laughing joy at the end....oh man, i want us to ****ing make the playoffs and upset the thunder or spurs..
Von Wafer and Deke too... Man that 09' team should have won it all. This current Rockets squad is has been my favorite since then. I also miss the 04-05' Rockets squad too.
Dang, watching that video feels like it was decades ago. I kind of feel as though this team right now is better than that team (without Yao of course). It's better balanced anyways. We have shot blockers in the lane, good perimeter defenders in Lee and Parsons, who also can shoot, Scola who is reverting back to his consistent ways, and a much better PG than Brooks in Dragic. Jury still out on whether or not he's better than Lowry though.
i remember winning back to back championships and that felt a hell of a lot better than going to the second round for a year. seems like an obvious statement but sometimes i wonder.
and when you consider that he was a backup/ role player coming into this season, you realize how truly far away we are from being a contending team. Sure we can beat a few elite teams here and there; sure we have really good depth; sure we have a lot of heart and chemistry, but come on! if we make the playoffs, it's for entertainment purposes only, and Les can sell a few extra tickets. Even if we manage to get passed the 1st round, we are not winning a championship. The only potential long-term good that can come out of a playoff spot for Houston, is that it might help entice some quality free agents to want to sign here, and it may entice Dragic to resign. Other than that, it's pure entertainment. And i'm not saying that's all that terrible. It's a great consilation prize.
Yep, split the series 2-2, and one of the losses came in overtime with really poor officiating (but that's going to be always the case against them). They also rely heavily on iso's for their offense and the Rockets happen to be an elite defensive team against the iso. Not saying we'll beat them, but it won't be a 5 game series.
