#1 I said it does not matter whether you use the term "race" or "minority" when it comes to being hispanic. Being hispanic is NOT the same as being "white" in America, and that includes Florida. You can come up with some convoluted justification if you want, but the point is that Zimmerman was not white in the traditional sense, so to claim white racism on the part of Zimmerman is patently false. Second, you do not know that Zimmerman considers himself "every bit as white and its privileges". However, you will argue this ad nauseum because without trying to cobble together the "white" argument the article you posted falls flat. At least I now know that you believe that hispanics in Florida are not a minority, and receive benefits beyond "whites". Does that make whites a minority in Florida?... interesting dynamics you have created... I never said that Zimmerman couldn't be racist, for all I know he could be a biggot, all I can go by is what limited information we know. However, the point that you continue to evade is that Zimmerman was not white in the traditional sense. Therefore, using him as an example of white racism is foolish. Trust me, you can find far better examples. Now you are changing your claim yet again... so now, even though Zimmerman was not certain that Martin was black, he was hunting him because he was black. Even though Zimmerman was not certain of the race of Martin he had a 6th sense that because he was suspicious, he must be black. I guess Zimmerman got into his time machine and noted the race of Martin. Was the suspicious hispanics and whites that Zimmerman reported to the police also black? You are absurd. You are really confused. It is simple, just because the Martin family believes their son was a victim was of racism, does not mean we was or was not a victim of racism. Conversely, just because Zimmerman's father says his son is not a racist, does not mean he is or is not a racist. It is a red herring and irrelevant. No, again your logic fails, just because Jesse Jackson has said racist things before (and may or may not be a racist) does not mean the Martin family is racist. I know.... you don't like that, because it does not fit the narrative. Concerning twisting the facts, I am not the one claiming systemic racism, and racism by Zimmerman. Indeed, I have repeatedly stated both organizations may very well be racist. If you want to know about the comments of Sharpton and Jackson, I suggest you do some research on them, and then you decide. Again, you are taking your opinion and passing it off as a fact. We don't know whether he said coon. Do not worry, voice analysis will be relied upon, and it may very well be concluded that he used a racial slur. Likewise, I would argue the same reasoning to someone that said "you heard Zimmerman crying for help, he was defending himself."...... we simply do not know. I have told you how you really feel..... I tell you what, why don't you tell me how you really feel instead of relying on conjecture to claim racism. The Till case is legitimate because they were premeditated when they went to his home, pulled him out of bed, told multiple witnesses that they were going to teach him a lesson for talking to a white woman, covered him with a tarp, beat him, drove him all over town and then through his dead body in the river. If you do not see the difference, then you are dense. How dare you say what is legitimate?? ... this circular logic makes you feel better about yourself, but is going to get you no where... in fact this whole paragraph is a cluster of strawmen. Gotcha... I will be sure to let hispanics in Florida know that they are not a minority, in fact they have more pull that white. So please tell me..... since the mighty hispanics rule the state, shouldn't you be claiming hispanic racism? ........ I know absurb....
The Comets folded, right? Why don't you? I think you need a higher calling than to take cheap shots at people with whom you disagree. "This case is a lot more complicated than who did what and why." What in the HELL does that mean? Are you trying to MAKE IT into something?
Why is Zimmerman's race/ethnicity really an issue? Does not being purely white mean he can't be a racist? That's the gist of what I'm getting from people who tend to call every leader in the black community a racist pretty regularly. Latin american people can be pretty damn racist towards african american people here. Listen in on a conversation of central or south american people, they can get pretty racist towards "los indios" in their respective countries. For the record, I'm not accusing Zimmerman of being a racist.
Just how do you come to this conclusion? The report says the officer on the scene has Zimmerman at gunpoint and he is apparently calling out to Martin to get him to respond. The officer on the scene has to take precautions and can't just lay down his weapon to tend to Martin. For all he knows Zimmerman may try to escape or harm the officer. It's dumb **** like this that shows how emotionally tied people are to the events. Face it, if you were that officer you'd have acted the same. Keep the assailant secured and yourself protected. Furthermore it looks like another officer arrives on scene at about the same time the first officer is calling out to Martin. Shortly thereafter the officers start chest compression's on Martin -- but yeah , you're right that officer didn't care.
LOL @ you trying to generalize comments about race-baiters and tie it to "every leader in the black community". Care to name every leader? You can feel free to skip over those who do not qualify, such as Sharpton and Jackson who are nothing more than talking heads.
Yeah, when rolling up to a scene where one guy has the gun, the police should first give aid to the person shot rather than secure the scene by disarming the shooter. Yeah, that makes sense.
Where do you get the officer didn't care? Read the report. The officer states "I tried to get a response from the black male, but was met with negative response". I might be paraphrasing the last word or two some. Look it up. I'm guessing his attempt was to call out to Martin. He certainly didn't try to get his attention by rolling him in toilet paper.
GZ's race shouldn't be an issue, but it adds a significant amount of drama to the already volatile situation. Perhaps it's just me, but it does seem like the amount of racism talk in the media has subsided a bit since they found out he's not white (or caucasian, anglo saxon, or whatever). It just doesn't add the same effect to a news story if it's not "white man shoots unarmed black teen"...at least in eyes of the media pundits, anyway. To your point...any race of people can be racist towards any race that is not their own. It's only been going on for...I don't know...all of humanity. Personally, I don't think race had anything to do with it. I think Zimmerman was just an overzealous wanna-be cop who got himself in a horrible position by acting like something he's not. He shouldn't have gotten out of the car. He shouldn't have been carrying a gun. He's supposed to watch the neighborhood and report suspicious activity. That's it. The minute he got out of his car and confronted Martin the situation went south. If he stays in the car, no one dies that night. If he does what 911 tells him (he shouldn't have called 911 anyway; it wasn't an emergency) and stays in the car, this story never hits the news. I don't think he went "hunting" for a black guy to kill that night. The issue of calling him a "coon" could have just as easily been the word "goon". It is so hard to discern what he says that there is no way to definitively conclude that he called him a "coon". "Goon" just doesn't fit the story that the media is trying to write with this. Besides, why would he use that word to an unknown person on the other end of a 911 call? Unless he knows the operator when they answer the phone, how does he know the operator isn't black? It just doesn't add up IMO. Truthfully, we don't know Zimmerman. He could have a nazi flag on his wall, confederate flag bedsheets, and a noose swinging from his ceiling fan. But the facts that are slowly coming out doesn't point to him being racist in my opinion. Ignorant? Absolutley. Murderer? Probably.
I agree with you, this issue is the law and legal system. Anyone can be Hispanic. My issue with the situation is the description of this as white racism by Zimmerman when the facts don't fit the narrative. There plenty of examples of white racism, but labeling this as racism diverts from the real issue.
Seriously, again with the literal definitions even after your "thievery vs stealing" debacle? Get over yourself.
Hispanics and blacks fought all the time when I was in school. Half white half Hispanic = twice the racism!
