Haha are you on drugs? When did I say he was a racist, go ahead and show me that. I said what I said and I stand by it. I don't know if you read what you wrote before you posted because you are making no sense at all. "If we wanted to see if person A reacted to person B because of [x] reason, we replace person B with person C and keep everything the same except for [x]." That is pretty basic reasoning? Putting a 60 year old man in that situation instead of Martin would help show whether or not Martin was targeted because he was black, why are you acting all outraged?

No, putting a 17 yr old Caucasian or Hispanic male instead of Martin would help show whether or not Martin was targeted because he was black. You keep all the other variables (age, gender, species) the same.

Even then, trying to make assumptions about how someone would act who you don't know is a waste of time.

FALSE. On your part, George zimmerman is NOT Bi-racial. He is a white latino. Latino is an ethnicity and White is a race. Also do you don't live in florida. I do. I know the racial dynamics at hand. White latinos don't consider themselves as a 'minority', Especially ones that live in Florida, because they have more capital. They consider themselves white with a latino background and a European heritage. I've had this personally told to me and seen it myself in hundreds of situations. If George zimmerman was to be charged, his race would be identified as white. Even with a hispanic background, you can be white, black, asian. Since George had a half peruvian background I can pretty much assume with confidence of being around them, that he considers himself white,( or a person in a higher social class) and definitely not a "minority" since his Dad said he mentored minority children, which suggest he doesn't consider his fellow peruvians as minorities. GZ's father is being his father. For anyone to suggest or hint that a white latino can't be racist is crazy, since they defintely don't want to be considered black, nor do they associate themselves with blacks as if they are somehow tied together.

He's positve on the 911 call that he's black, which is why he called him a coon. It's only questionable to you because maybe you identify with George Zimmerman.
Of course this about race, Martins parents believes so, which is why they contacted Al sharpton. So if Martin's parents believe this is a racial incident, Do you find them with fault as well? Marches have taken all over dade county with people constantly throwing out emmit till comparisons. Ministers, pastors and Reverends all had special services for this tragedy. I suggest you take those blinders off and look at the real America, not the one you wish to see. George Zimmerman made this about race and the Martin Family definitely believes so. So don't suggest I'm "creating" a racial aspect, when you clearly see what's going on right in front of your TV.

#1 whether you want to consider hispanic a race or ethnicity make no difference. Hispanics are considered a minority group in America. The fact that he is half hispanic DESTROYS your entire earlier article.

#2 Your anecdotal evidence that hispanics consider them white is WORTHLESS and carries no weight. Using your logic, I dated a Peruvian girl who viewed herself as hispanic..... so "I know".

#3 I guess you didn't bother to listen to the 911 video, he wasn't even sure that Martin was black when he called 911. Further your logic is flawed. If he is going to "hunt" someone for being black, why would he do it while on the phone with 911?

#4 The fact that Martin's parents believe it was racial motivated is virtually irrelevant. You have to look at the facts, and the facts AT THIS POINT are not on your side. New information can certainly come to light that can change the situation.

#5 Calling Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton furter errodes credibility. They are self serving, self promoting folks. In the case of Jackson, he has proven to be quite the racist.

#6 Look, I know you BADLY want to make this about race, you have an agenda and desperately want to make the facts fit your conclusion, but you are not objective. In fact I would argue that you are doing a disservice to legitimate racism.

#7 In Dade county there are more hispanics and Blacks that Whites.

I am done with discussing this with you. You are every bit as bad as BASSO or BIGTEXX. You are a biggot.

Hey Nook, I guess the parents should have called you, giddy, and bigotexxx. You guys would have gotten to the bottom of this thing right away I'm sure just like the police did when they neglected to drug/alcohol test the shooter but didn't forget to test the dead kid. Nice call. I liove it when a gun wielding wanna be cop calls a kid a coon as he's following him around in the dark and then ends up shooting him it's everyone else making it about race. That's hilarious. You think we all live in this fantasy world where cops always do their job no matter who's lying dead in the grass and black people never get targeted because they're black except that's not true in the real world. This case is a lot more complicated than simply who did what and why. It speaks to what goes on in this country every day that some of you need more "facts" to believe actually goes on.

Ugh.... I never said that the cops didn't target black people, I never said that there isn't cases of racism committed in this country..... In fact in the past I have pointed out examples of racism and examples of cops not doing their jobs properly. I saw it often in my professional career... the issue I have is with people taking opinion and passing it off as a fact.....

However, just because the cops target minorities, does not mean they did in this case. Perhaps they did, but there is a lot of evidence that is to the contrary.

Whatever, you will twist it to mean anything you want, I find the whole thing unfortunate and hope the matter is completely investigated. I am offended when people compare this case to Emmet Till, but whatever. I am done with this thread.... everyone, including me, has an opinion......

I don't like Zimmerman, have never met the man, and honestly the portrayal of him is not flattering...

Regardless, I agree with SJAX and need a break from this thread.

I'm not considering Hispanic as a race. It's not. Period. GZ is not Bi- racial. Him being half hispanic does NOTHING to destroy the article I listed, because the same principles apply to whites as well hispanic whites. Being half hispanic means nothing. Latin is a language. Being half hispanic does not mean you are half white. You're making yourself look stupid. If a Haitian and an African American have a child, is the child just half black? Of course not. A white American had a child with a white peruvian. Therefore the child is white with a hispanic background.

You dated one girl, I know many peruvians. I live in florida, you have no credibility. Racial dynamics in florida are totally different than any other state. I listened to the 911 call, he did chase after martin and got out of his car to confront martin. Therefore he was on the hunt to confront martin because he was suspicious. Now did you listen to the 911 call or are you just making up your own version?

The fact that Martins parents believe it was racial profiling has everything to do with it. IF Jesse is racist than the Martin parents are racist. Do you believe the martin Parents to be racist? Jesse Jackson has been helping them in this cause too. They haven't objected to Jesse at all.

How am I "making" this about race when CLEARLY zimmerman said a racial slur and racially profiled. The fact that you so Vehemently defend zimmerman makes you a racist. The fact that You say what martins parents think are irrelevant then say Jesse is racist when Jesse has joined them in their pursuit of justice, makes your staements non credible. You badly want to turn a blind eye to racism, therefore making you a racist. The fact that you defend a racist makes your character questionable. You go through such lengths to defend a killer that racially profiled. And you have the AUDACITY to sit up here and write what is considered "Legitimate racism" as your blind eyes see fit makes you Despicable. Like you're some judge and jury deciding on what's legitimate. How dare you, Sir? How dare you?

Dade County Hispanics are Mostly cubans, and most of them considers themselves white latinos. They definitely don't associate with blacks or consider themselves in the same boat as black or believe they're some type of minority. As with many other south american Immigrants that migrate to florida, There is a white privilege associated with the capital they bring. The fact that you try to make these white hispanic distinctions, let's me know you don't know what you're talking about.

As I said earlier, it is irrelevant whether you label it race or ethnicity, unless your position is that hispanics are not a minority then the racist article you published earlier is not valid. If it is your opinion that hispanic is "white" in America, then I disagree with it but respect it.

I guess the sarcasm was not obvious, the fact that I was engaged to a Peruvian girl a decade ago, and that you know Peruvians is irrelevant.

Concerning the 911 call, earlier you said that Zimmerman was hunting Martin because he was black. That relevant point is that Zimmerman was not even sure that Martin was black when he was following him.... that does not sound like someone that was hunting someone because they are black. You now have changed your argument from black to suspicious, I would agree that he followed Martin because he was suspicious, he even said so in the 911 tape.

No, the fact that Martin's family believes it was racial profiling does not change the facts. You have to look at the facts and not what interested parties think. Zimmerman's father does not believe it was racially motivated, do we immediately believe him?... no.
Second, whether Jesse Jackson is racist does not mean that Martin's parents are racist.

Jackson has a documented history of racism and hypocrisy...calling NY 'Hymietown' is unsettling is pretty damn bad, so was the "counseling" of Clinton.

Zimmerman did not "clearly" use a racial slur. I have heard it numerous times. We will see what the experts say. I will say it for the 100th time, if he did say "coon", then that is pretty damning. Again..... you are taking something, and making it fit your narrative.

I don't want to turn a blind eye to racism, I do not want legitimate racism undermined by people that have a set agenda and attempt to squeeze this case into a narrow hole to make their point. Race may play a part in this case, facts are still coming out, but to compare it to Emmett Till is disprespectful.

How dare YOU tell other people what is and is not racism and racist, how dare you...... see where hyperbole gets you?.....

You have never even bothered to ask how familiar I am with Florida, you just "assumed" yet again..... I lived in Florida for years in the late 90's. Further, the issue of Cuban's and "white latinos" is a red herring..... George Zimmerman is not Cuban, he is half Peruvian. It is comparing apples to oranges.
"White hispanic distinctions".... Really? Why don't you ask hispanics if they consider themselves to be "white" in America? How dare you undermine the plight of Hispanics and the descrimination they face in America!...... more hyperbole, just shifted your logic back towards you. I know you do not really believe that being hispanic is equal to being white in America (at least I hope not), but this "style" is what you have consistently done through out this thread.

Regardless I am done discussing this..... you believe what you want.... and I will believe what want...... it is America.

I wonder if this would have gotten as much attention if the victim wasn't black.

The police did not "drug test the kid". The toxicology testing, which to my knowledge has not been released, was done as a routine part of the autopsy by the ME.

    fixed it for you.

but my answer to your hypothetical question, which this thread is already chock full of, is that the nation would be outraged if an unarmed white kid was the victim of the exact same scenario that unfolded in a gated community in Florida. how is that even a question?

and everyone else's hypothetical argument is WHAT IF the SHOOTER was black, "where's the outrage?!"

and my hypothetical answer would be- when's the last time police let an armed black man walk free after he admitted to killing an unarmed black teenager in self defense?

people adjust the hypothetical situation to fit their own arguments and feelings towards race relations in this country.

the hypothetical questions being asked in this thread are transparent.
