you replied to my post saying "I fixed your post" therefore you must have realized I was responding to someone's post. Therefore your " tinman started " is like Tmac's bogus "I'm back" statements
So let's say you could go back to the 2007-2008 Rockets season when they are in the playoffs against the Lakers and you can either put a prime Tmac on that roster or a prime Reggie Miller on that roster knowing what you know about both players in the playoffs. Would you really risk it and take Tmac?
You do realize how good Reggie was in the playoffs right? 92 - 27 ppg shooting 58%/63% 93 - 31 ppg shooting 53%/52% 94 - 23 ppg shooting 44%/42% 95 - 25 ppg shooting 47%/42% Reggie Miller was an amazing playoff scorer and did it so efficiently. People like to point to Reggie's regular season averages but those are a result of him not jacking up a ton of shots. When it came playoff time Reggie could score with the best of them. You wouldn't even think about taking the guy that could make teams pay big time for doubling Yao and had proven that he could take a team past the first round as the best player?
Reggie Miller had the most 3 pointers made, now 2nd with 2560, 3rd place is Jason Kidd who has 1860 (currently). Seriously, it took this long to recognize his place in the NBA. No doubt Reggie deserves it, as much as I love Ralph Sampson because his affiliation with the Rockets, he is less deserving. If Yao does not make HOF, it is a travesty since Ralph Sampson made it.
Misleading stats are misleading. Also, Reggie Miller has never been more than Kevin Martin-esque in contributions outside of scoring. If you think the Rockets would've beaten the Mavs or the Jazz in any of those playoff series with Miller instead of T-Mac, then I'd like to have some of what you're smoking.
Did you actually watch any of those Rockets teams or do you just continually parrot couldnt get out of the first round and game stats? I hate TMac, generally, and do think it's ridiculous he couldn't get out of the first round, but also recognize other facts. Like the fact that Ryan Bowen was the third most important player that series. Ryan freaking Bowen. For all his playoff exits, I think only the last Utah series with JVG represents a true failure. Home court advantage, health TMac and Yao, series leads, etc. otherwise TMacs teams were often over performing before crashing and burning. With regards to Miller, I think clearly TMac was the better overall player at both peaks. It's folly to say otherwise... Just because of lack of playoff series win doesn't invalidate TMacs capabilities and performance. Reggie was great at what he did, but did he do enough. Limited defender, ball handler, rebounder, etc. But, unquestionably the dude was clutch, was a great playoff performer and DID benefit from playing the Knicks and bulls so often in the playoffs - then the Lakers in the Finals. Yes, Indiana is a small market, but then it still had that "Hoosier" history - since lost after the Ron artest incident. I'm ok with Miller making HOF, but then you have have to be consistent. Which means a Ray Allen should make it. And otherwise borderline HOF talent with similar skillets.
I can't believe there is any debate about this. We are talking about the 2nd all time leader in 3s...all time... 2nd all time leader in 3s 2nd all time leader in 3s 2nd all time leader in 3s 2nd all time leader in 3s Just so that sinks in there. Also he ranks 14th...ALL TIME for points. Ahead of guys like Garnett, Iverson, Dirk, Garnett, Clyde, Duncan...list of greats and greats. Deserves it 100%. Argue about if he was on a better team than Mitch all you like but he certainly deserves to be in the Hall of Fame.
That's the only point I've been trying to make the last couple of post. Miller was a good player in his career. Though, it is somewhat foolish to compare him to talent like T-Mac or the Iceman. I've seen posters accuse those who say that T-Mac is better, of not watching basketball in 90s. I could say the same about them, never watching Gervin. My eyes rolled a little, when I saw someone comparing Miller's point totals to Gervin and not realize that Gervin is nearly 8 points ahead of Miller in scoring average. While, Gervin might have arguably been one of league's most dominant and efficient scorers in history, outside of MJ and Wilt. I have to say you'd have to be foolish to think that Miller was league's better than T-Mac, maybe even showing a little bit of bias. Miller never averaged over 4 assists per game, averaged about 20 ppg in his prime, shot 47% from the field, below average on defense, and never showed alot of versatility. Again, some of those Pacer teams were pretty good ... Smits, Davis (with the younger Davis later on), and Mckey (later on with Rose and Mullin) with Mark Jackson at point guard. The only time T-Mac really played with fairly talented roster overall was around 07-08 in all honesty. T-Mac was an elite level scorer who could also play the role of great facilitator and hold up his end on defense, in fact in his earlier days he was very good defender. He was not lacking in any part of his offensive arsenal. Moreover, considering he played for Houston and Orlando who both were miserable supporting talent. In all honesty, would Reggie Miller have carried any Houston or Orlando team any deeper into the playoffs or even to the Finals. I'm not sure, he's easier to key on defensively, especially when your team is lacking other offensive options.
excuses excuses. I'm not worried about him not getting out of the first round. But could you lose by less than 40 in the pivotal game 7? Is that so much to ask? the facts are that tmac had 3 game 7s which means he had 3 teams capable of pushing a team that far and didn't win won of them. He is nothing more than a stat stuffer.
So was T-Mac the only player on the team. I thought it was the Orlando Magic and Houston Rockets, not the Orlando T-Mac or the Houston McGradys. It was almost fluke the Magic took the Pistons to game 7, while the Mavericks were vastly more talented the Rockets in 05. If you put all of those teams together can you name one good player, outside of Yao Ming.
Sorry, I can't find the jersey retirement picture for that dude who burns bridges, however I found one for Reggie
Let's talk about Hall of Famer: Reggie Miller, not the bench player on the Hawks who has all these jungalo fans <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/55FzRe4cDS8" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
So in other words you didn't watch any of those games. You keep bolding and stressing "stats" when in reality you're the one just judging by what happened on paper. Watch the freaking games man. Replace Reggie and TMac and you wouldn't even have those game 7s. There's a reason TMac was able to lose that game 7 by 40 points. Because he and Yao, surrounded by a cast of characters that was led by Ryan Bowen and Jon Barry got them to that game. But why argue with you. You think Rudy Gay is on Durants level and Memphis is the greatest, most underappreciated city of all time. Might as well be arguing with a brick wall.
Yeah but that same cast and same coaching staff made it to game 7. Replace Reggie with Tmac and you don't get 18 years with the Pacers. He hasn't lasted more than 4 1/2 years with the same club. Yao and Rik Smits are very similar, no way he handles the Knicks, he'd suffer an injury with a Charles Oakley or Anthony Mason elbow in his chest. Come on Jay, don't act like the Insane Clown Posse, H to the Izzo dude.
