I hope you are not trying to say tmac is on Miller's level. I know I'm on a rockets fan board now. Wow, I'm utterly speechless.

Who was better at basketball at their peak?

I'm not an advocate of McGrady to the hall. His durability and playoff failures prevent that from being a possibility. But he was a generational talent. And a better basketball player in his prime than Reggie was.

how many playoff series did player 2 win?
I want a player who wins playoff series.

Why are Tracy fans on this thread? I guess why are Tracy fans on any thread!

You think player 2 would survive the first round of the Hunger games?

What if player 2 was in Gladiator? Would the Romans boo him cause he can't battle and tells the emperor through Stephen A Smith that his Knees hurt and that he can't battle Maximus?

So even though he didn't rebound as well (or much at all), didn't defend as well (and neither are well-regarded in this department), didn't pass as well, didn't score as well (or in as many different ways), and was less effective at creating off the dribble, and less effective at setting up his teammates, Miller was the better player?

After the 1999-00 season, Miller never made another NBA final, never made another all-star team or all-nba team, and never averaged greater than 18ppg in a season. He was sitting at around 19,000 career points at the time. He wouldn't have made the hall of fame if he had retired then, and he didn't get any better.

He stuck around, got up to 25,000 career points, and that's why he was inducted. Good for him.

His peak was incredibly unimpressive for a HOFer.

I watched them both. I'm not a McGrady fan. I don't let my personal feelings affect my judgement of a player's on-court abilities (generally. My 'Barkley was better than Malone' argument may be biased).

It's so utterly ridiculous. People are judging reggie by stats. Those same people call Kevin Love a stat stuffer because his stats are ridiculously good. But tmac is a generational player?

The ultimate stat stuffer: tmac. If there ever was.

Tracy McGrady never made it past the first round of the playoffs!

We're trying to talk about Reggie Miller!
You know Miller Time! when he's hit clutch shots and yelling at Spike Lee

    Speaking of Spike Lee,

you need to "Do the Right Thing" and quit talk about Tracy McGrady on this thread.
I don't know how you got "Bamboozled" by this player. Reggie Miller, "He Got Game"

You started it. I'm replying to you.

And you obviously missed the context of the "never made another NBA final" comment. The point was that he didn't add to his legacy after 1999-00, he simply added to his point total.

if you read all the stuff said about this player by a certain group of his fans on this board, you would say your name over and over again like it was a beyonce song

how did I start it? Other people threw out 90s players like Jordan and all of the sudden this other player who has nothing to do with the 90s popped up like a skunk on the road

I just fixed their post so it could be fair to the players of that era

Reggie is awesome, so he wasn't that versatile, neither was Shaq.
He knew what he was good at and he was really good at it.

plus that guy got the job done and is beloved by his franchise. that means something.

Just don't bother arguing T-Mac with tinman ever. He's probably more irrational about T-Mac than the mid-90s Rockets.

And you can't deny media impact. If Reggie Miller had been in the west and made twice the awesome shots against the Jazz or the Suns, no one today would give a flip. But he did it against the Knicks and Spike Lee back when the Knicks and Spike Lee mattered. He did back when NBA ratings were awesome and on non-cable TV. And he had a flair about him that kept getting on highlight reels.

I know objectively that Miller actually failed quite a bit too in the clutch, when he inevitably came up short, and Indy got knocked out of playoffs over and over. But those few moments where he shined really immortalized him.

    Early 90s buddy.

    No, I'm right.

Oh yeah, He's a ratings darling because he played in INDIANA!

People immortalizing him? dude, what do you think the dumb Tmac fans do? They make Justin Beiber fans rational.

Based on your posting history, I somewhat doubt that that was you're motivation

Ridiculous. Shaq was a dominant offensive rebounder, a very good defensive rebounder, closed off the paint with his size and shotblocking, was a menace as an open court finisher in his Orlando and early LA days, could score from either block and finish with either hand, was a devastating PnR finisher, and was an underrated passer.

Reggie could run around screens all day and play catch-and-shoot, and he was a really good flopper on defense (and offense). The two aren't analogous.

Sure, he got the job done. There wasn't a lot to the job description though. Run off screens, catch the ball, shoot a jumper. Cut backdoor, catch the ball, shoot a layup. He was an extremely durably Rip Hamilton, with more shooting range. He was good at his job. He scored 25,000 points. I feel he's a borderline HOF case, but I won't begrudge him for getting him, but I won't deify him or call him something he wasn't.

As for the whole beloved aspect should mean something to Pacers fans and members of the organization. It shouldn't mean anything when it comes to the hall of fame, IMO.

tmac couldn't get out of the first round, but you are swapping posting history. Tmac is a Generational talent; had an all star center and can't get out of the first round. oookkay

and now you are taking the stance of the "objective, measured" poster. You have no clue.
