Has anyone watched Olympiacos this year? Where's that Greek homer guy when you need him? Anyhow, in terms of statistical output, it looks like Doresy has put up some good numbers in a very good pro league this season: http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Joey-Dorsey-456/stats/ He has also always been a more than decent rebounder, though rather foul prone. It's not crazy to think that he is worth an NBA roster spot. I know "Joey Dorsey" is kind of a joke around these parts since he didn't work out the first time around, but if we are talking about the Rockets signing some burly Greek guy with body odor and back hair named "Georges Syphilisophous" putting up exactly the same level of production for a good Euro League team, I bet people would be all excited about the team finding some gem.
The 1st thread I created I was telling people that dorsey would be more service-able than hill. The jury is still out but I still hate hill more than dorsey.
I always liked David Andersen. I thought he would have been a serviceable player along side a Yao Ming or Dwight Howard. Alongside Luis Scola he is garbage.
Given our team at the time though, I think it's perfectly acceptable to admit Morey made a mistake in drafting him. No matter if he pans out or not, we needed a guy with a ceiling higher than that of a 6'7 PF with no offensive skills whatsoever. You could say Dejuan Blair was the best case scenario, but even Blair showed MUCH MUCH more in college. Dorsey was a project that failed, and it looks even worse given who was taken after him. I think Morey has learned his lesson and is now open to guys who are less likely to succeed but more likely to produce large dividends if successful. The Motiejunas pick is my evidence.
The game right now shows why it wouldn't hurt to get Dorsey. We need a player that bodies up, rebounds, blocks and protects the paint.
I disagree. I think our chances to improve greatly rest on finding gems. We risk a worthless player for the chance at a homerun. We tried this with Dorsey/Hill/Flynn etc. We just didn't succeed with them. It is easy to fault Morey that year, however, because he picked the wrong player. Chalmers, D. Jordan, Asik, Moute went with the four picks after Dorsey. But Morey has obviously been successful with Budinger and Parsons (for where they were taken). Morey is too conservative in the 1st round-Brooks, Morris, Ppat were all older and finished products. We need to draft an 18 or 19 year old and roll the dice. There will be a few in this draft around our picks.
