If there is a 7th circle of hell, I'm in it.

Every psychological and physiological symptom imaginable is overtaking me.

How long will this last :(

Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeee*t, teeter yourself off mayne. Take some and then split doses till you're taking a half a pill in one day, and prepare yourself the next. Be sure you're distracted tho...

Stop being lazy, drug addiction isn't a real disease.

Go out and get a job and start working out you'll be fine.

If you took 20 heroin addicts and put them in the middle of a primitive civilization in the middle of the Andes mountain range I guarantee within 7 days they would be completely "cured".

How long it lasts depends on how much you were taking and if it was recreational, therapeutic, for an anxiety disorder or insomnia, etc.

The worst of it should be over by the two week point. Weed helped me with the insomnia and the anxiety when I went off xanax, but for some it might make it worse and it won't do much for the physical symptoms.

but a) not an actual possible scenario so you cant say that
    b) certain addictions lead to irreversible physiological changes. So even if they were "clean" for a long time, in a sense they can't go back to the way they were before the addiction. That sounds like a disease to me

I went through a self imposed rehab from benzos that I used to help with my back spasms.

Ween yourself off, please. Dont do it cold turkey...depending on how dependent you are you can die in the detox phase. Please dont die.

OP, you need to put yourself in the middle of a primitive civilization in the middle of the Andes mountain range for at least 7 days.

I seriously doubt that anyone who has ruined their life with drugs can be classified as having a "disease". They are the disease, sir

    Diseases:

AIDS:mad:, Alzheimer's, Non hodgkin's lymphoma, extra crispy hodgkin's lymphoma , Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis, Polio, Chicken Pox

    Non-Diseases

    Being a damn drug infested Jesus-puncher. :(

There are plenty of people with real diseases that are jumping up and down with joy in their hearts and love in their failing organ tissue while you are just so weak you can't even get through a couple days off your drug of choice.

    :eek::grin:;):eek::p:):confused::rolleyes:

Hang in there man. Maybe you should look into medical supervision? Good luck, sounds like a rough road.

Well i mean you can't say it's always their fault for being addicted and then having irreversible physiological changes. I dont have any sympathy for people who actively do stupid stuff like doing meth or seeking out pills for non-medical related purposes. But many people get into accidents -> prescribed a painkiller -> gets addicted. They really did nothing wrong in the sense that they weren't actively seeking out drugs for the purpose of recreation, that is until of course their body/brain changes to an extent where it NEEDS that in order to function properly.

There's acute dieases, and then theres chronic diseases. One could argue that addiction (the way the brain changes if you look at pre-addiction to post-addiction) is a chronic disease.

    well I didnt say that...

but addiction can be caused by a genetic predisposition. Obviously, the person is responsible if they get addicted after actively do cocaine/drugs for recreational purposes. But some people are more vulnerable to certain coompounds at much lower dosages than some others. They have a lower threshold, and are more likely to get addicted. These characteristics are based on genetics and genes are obviously inherited... I think that's why many scientists claim it is a chronic disease just on the fact that addiction can be genetically acquired
