Not sure what you meant really, but it reads like an oxymoron to me.

Stay classy my friends... Let's rather not talk about politics here.

It's a homer article, you shouldn't be surprised.

Scola still should've responded with a hard foul. IMO

Scola, Battier, Landry, and Hayes were tough long before McHale's hire.

There's nothing tough about fake macho posturing ala KG.

I would rather see us trade Pat Pat, and keep Scola around to work with DMo.

Scola is such an awesome guy and good teammate. Everyone who ragged on him for the way he handled the Love stomp should be ashamed.

I think it brings to question the character of those who ragged on the guy , hell not only those people but society in general. It seems over the last decade so , being a thug has become acceptable. The norm rather than the exception.

    Guy's like Scola are refreshing.

Of course. Coaches can mold players to a certain extent, but they sure don't transform Martin's into Artest's. What they can do is allocate playing time and push for new players. McHale said in one of his interviews that you hope to have a bunch of fighters on your team, and where you don't, you hope to bring them in next year. Poorly paraphrased I'm sure.

Compare how the center position is being filled now as opposed to bringing in Miller, and starting rookie Parsons. I see a change towards the better. Maybe the better is only in my mind, but it sure does not appear softer.

Post Rudy, it just does not seem to me that there were any truly tough Rocket teams. You had to love watching the defense of Battier and Artest, but as a team, they never seemed to be tough minded.

You mean KG, the guy with a ring? Mchale loves the guy. BTW, no Mchale (the player) lets Kevin Love get away with that garbage. Aw well its over & done with, next game please.

Absolutely correct - McHale woulda done the guy some harm. But he played in a different era and other than getting tossed from that game , wouldnt likely be penalized.

Scola , had he retaliated would likely have been tossed from the game and suspended for multiple games.

KG is a dirty coward. Malone was dirty and tough but he doesn't have a ring. Those two attributes do not go hand in hand.

Dude, Its not like Scola defending himself was going to cost us a title. There's a lot of winning players who would defended themselves in this era.

KG's "toughness" got him out of the first round only once (with Cassell and Sprewell) before he teamed up with Pierce and Allen. Ring counting is such an overrated thing.

Yes, they were. I don't question that McHale preaches toughness in his own way, though. I might question how effective preaching it is, thinking that there are limits to how much a coach can do to influence a player at this level, when we're talking about something that comes from deep inside. I think most players either have it already, or never will, but it can't hurt to emphasize playing that way. I've always thought Scola is tough, and have heard that said about him by the broadcast crews of various teams that we've played. One might not know it by reading some of the comments about him on this board.

I want to add that Jason Friedman is the best thing to ever happen to Rockets.com.
