Tweet your Lowry+ lottery pick for #1 pick+Maggette idea to all NBA journalists/GMs, none will say it's realistic.
None of the guys you mentioned are franchise changers right now, except for Rondo. And Scola's attitude won't bring you **** in value. You the one that has to get real.
We don't need a PF!!!! We need a SG and a C now. Unless Lee really continues to develops into an amazing player. But then who will back him up. Let's face it, Martin isn't going to be here for next season. I say get Lamb and Rivers, see which develops then trade the lesser.
If Lamb falls that far down the lottery somebody ain't doing their job. I could be wrong, but I see Lamb as possibly, and arguably, the second more interesting prospect in the draft. Sure, his team didn't play well down the stretch THIS year, but his skill set along with his physical attributes (i'm a fan of the lanky wing players with athletic ability), makes him a GREAT prospect.
So you have Lee and split the 20 minutes left for SG on two guys? That's not exactly a good way to turn them into good players or evaluate them.
So we get a PF and split the time between 3 players? That's worse! We already have 2 awesome PF's. And I also said we need a C. Now'a'days it just plain not worth it to draft a C. 95% of them are busts. If we get 2 SG's that other teams might want, we can more easily construct a package for an already developed C, Lord willin'.
A few thoughts: --Yung-T, I like this draft but won't root to mortgage the long-term health of the franchise to have 3 mid-first rounders instead of 2. This draft is not quite the "all-timer" that many think it is. That said, I won't exactly be crying about having 3 first round picks (other than to generally lament not making the playoffs, as a fan who wants to see the Rockets win). --megastahr, I've got to agree with Yung-T and others that there is no way the Rockets can acquire the #1 pick in this draft, even if Morey threw in his kitchen sink from his own house. Not gonna happen. --Since teams picking in the top-5 typically don't trade down for multiple mid-round picks, and since the Rockets have plenty of young trade chips on the roster already, I'd probably prefer not to have 4 first round rookies next year (the 3 picks plus Motiejunas). --Ideally, I'd like to make the playoffs and have a mid- to late lottery pick (NYK, although it'll probably be #15) and the #21 pick (DAL). Move up. If there are no takers, take the BPA with the higher pick and, unless someone "a cut above the rest" falls to #21, trade that pick for a future first or move back and pick up additional assets. And this all assumes there's no other trade for a veteran on draft night, which there absolutely could be.
Lol, Patterson is the future. No doubt. Scola is trade-able. But he is avg 16 ppg on .501% FG%. Patterson has a similar FG% but like 8ppg. So they're good where they are. You used the word "lead" as well, who's the last PF too lead his team to a title? Dirk? Exactly. There's only 1 PF like Dirk. Who's the last SG too lead his to a title. Several. Again, is possible to be title contenders this or next season, probably not. The only way I see next year as a possibility is if we make a trade for a decent C. And whatever SG we draft develops into an allstar. Unless of course we trade for an allstar SG too..
If we can get a two or three player combination of any of the following players in our draft range, I'd be happy... *Sullinger, *P. Jones, Leonard, Lamb, Henson, Q.Miller, Rivers, T. Zeller, Llillard, Marshall, Wroten, Moultrie and T.Jones *I think Sullinger and P. Jones are the most likely candidates of dropping on draft night. Heading into this draft our goal should be to get the best attainable talent possible, we can handle any depth problems later.
Scola and Pat are mediocre (some nights terrible) at D, you also have to see that they don't provide the anchor in the paint. Both can't block, plus Pat averages only 4rpg, that's just not enough for a PF. I rather have a guy like Nick Collison that helps you on both ends of the floor. Again, I just don't see how some of you can label a 4rpg/0.5bpg , mainly shooting guy as our future at PF.
Would you guys trade up for say the number 3 pick and draft Robinson out of Kansas? Even though we have scola and pat I think he can be our longterm star pf paired up with bear and camby at the center spot. The front court is very strong with great potential and growth and should be able with how the roster is be able to compete for the playoffs next yr.
Robinson has huge potential, many teams would want him. Again, I don't think teams will trade their picks if it will land them the likes of Davis, Gilchrist, Robinson, Beal, Drummond. Also, you would need better assets and picks to offer than we have.
If the Rox take Jeremy Lamb I'm gonna be furious. He will not be a good starter in this league. He only has one really good skill...
I don't like Sullinger's game that much either. He has no hops, and I think his upside is very limited. Plus, isn't he only like 6'7 or 6'8? How is he gonna bring more defense than what we already have? Some athletes are just really good college players and nothing more. There isn't anything wrong with that but he just isn't worth taking IMO...
