Hi Guys I will be in St Paul for a couple of days. Staying around 7th street. Is there any kind of Minnesota cuisine I have to try? Is the Mall of America worth the trip?
yeah go see the MoA. No sales tax on clothes here. For food, try the bangkok deli in St. Paul total dive but the best thai food outside thailand. If you want "minnesotian food" that is unquie to the area try the jucy lucy and Matts bar in S minneapolis.
What is wrong with Red Lobster? I go there from time to time and they have good lobsters, what is wrong?
Gotta get some Jucy Jucy's from either Matt's Bar in S. Minneapolis or at the 5-8 Club near the airport. It's their famous local burger. Also, check out Gasthof Zur Gemutlichkeit, or aka Gasthof 's They have kick ass German/European food along with lots of beer that you can drink out of boot shaped glasses. Another good place is Cap's Grille as well. Their food is also kick ass as well. Brasa Premium Rotisserie Restaurant is a good place for some really good roasted meats and dinners. Green Mill or the Italian Pie Shoppe has some really great pizza as well, and have various locations all over the place. Some other low key places (fast food or sit in) - Culvers for some good ol butterburgers, or walleye (kinda fast food) - Old Chicago restaurant and bar, lots of great Chicago style food with 110 beers on tap and bottle - Famous Daves BBQ. Nothing like Texas, but this Wisconsin based company does a damn good job of making their own style of Q thats for sure. The alligator tenders are amazing In my opinion you couldn't go wrong with any of those. I used to live there for 7 years and right now I am drawing a blank but you cant go wrong with any of those places. The Mall of America is a good place to visit, but it really isnt all that special in my opinion. It is something to see if you want to spend a few hours shopping and walking around. In the end though, it is just a really, really, really big shopping mall.
Of all I listed, my guess Pizza is all I got left. Google my recommendations and check out their menu's they probably have something to offer as well. But that kinda limits your options. Hmm..
Walleye, which is a fresh water fish, is loved by the locals. Its like going to New Orleans and ordering crawfish, or going to Houston and ordering Tex-Mex. Just ask the locals or hotel staff where to go for Walleye, and they will know.
