You keep acting like Treyvon's weight gives him some sort of disadvantage. Regardless of weight Treyvons height and reach give him advantages IMO. Also I'll bet on 150 lbs of muscle over 220 lbs of fat.

I'll bet on a 220+ lb fat guy with a pistol over a 150 lb athletic kid with skittles.

    Pure speculation

Have you ever been 6'3" and 150 lbs? Cause those were my stats when I was 17and there's not a whole lot of room for muscle. :)

That's possible. Though if we accept Z's version of the events - why confront Z if you are that scared? Also, wasn't it reported that this happened about 70 feet from his dad's gf's apartment? Why didn't he get off the phone with his own gf and call his dad or 911? If his dad was in the apartment and only 70 feet away, why not call him for help?

It was 210 yards from what I've read. 630 feet.

How many times must it be said that that simply is not the legal standard?

Source? Not arguing the point, it's just that I've read so much on this case that I'm having a hard time remembering some of the details.

Funny how certain people all of the sudden start giving a crap about due process.

    Obama 2012....

No, if Z's account is correct, the defining action is M's attack on Z. Z was not breaking any laws in merely following M.

ANd how far do we want to take the chain of events here. If M had not been suspended, he would not have been in Orlando on a Sunday night to even go to that convenience store.

No, the point of no return is on M if he attacked Z. On the other hand, if Z is lying, then we have a different analysis.

Self defense using lethal force only holds when there is "reasonable fear" of death or permanent bodily harm.

If Martin grabbed Zimmerman's gun, his prints should be on it. If he grabbed at the gun but didn't touch it, then maybe a witness could back Zimmerman's story to remove all doubt.

Martin's hands are not "lethal weapons" and I still cast doubt on his ability to completely overpower Zimmerman and ram the back of his head onto the pavement multiple times. If he was doing so, then I would also think a witness would have seen this motion... which is quite easy to make out.

This is not true. Self defense and lethal force under this law (and most laws) are not limited to someone using a gun or knife. Hands can definitely be lethal weapons.

The only witness that has come forward as actually seeing anything (not just hearing) actually does say Martin was on top of Zimmerman assaulting him.

The statute says "great bodily harm" not permanent. So unless great bodily is legally synonymous with "great bodily harm", your analysis is incorrect.

I was pulling the statute off the top of my head. You are so consumed with defending this statute. It is clearly way too ambiguous.

    Link?

The only witness I've heard about was the 13 year old boy who saw 2 guys fighting and one person yelling for help. He believes that it was Trayvon yelling for help.

Zimmerman would still have to have a reasonable fear for the self defense argument to hold. Simply being punched or mounted does not warrant the shooting.

Having your head slammed against pavement probably qualifies as reasonable fear.

Anyway, this is all dependent on it even being true. We have no idea what happened at this point.

150 lbs of pure muscle doesn't exist on a 6'3 person. He's like a damn twig.

have you tried fighting, sparring, grappling with someone that out weighs you by 70 lbs?, it feels like getting raped and suffocated by an elephant

If I was outweighed by 100 lbs I would definitely not take it the ground. I would just just jab and try to keep my distance especially when you have such a reach advantage.
