That's a tough one...for most of my youth I was into rock. This is why I wish iTunes existed back in the day...I could just look at the "Date Added" field.

If I had to guess I would probably say it was Cypress Hill Black Sunday, since Insane in the Brain was extremely popular and pretty much universally liked...even amongst rock fans. Some other possibilities are House of Pain (the one with Jump Around) and Arrested Development.

I don't think I ever fully appreciated rap until Fugees the Score. Since then I have went back and bought hundreds of rap albums retroactively. :p

    ^^^^^

Well if you're going to go there, I actually had the 45 single to Rapture by Blondie. Does that count as rap?

Was same age when I listened to this and Slim Shady LP. Guess I matured early in my music taste, friends were listening to Dragon Ball or Pokemon soundtracks while I was bumpin Em, Pac, Wu-Tang and ish. Even more funny as I live in Germany and that's not what the people here listen to at that age. Discovered everything myself, was the only one of my peers that listened to rap, am proud of that.

We were too poor to buy music so I had a cassette copy a friend made for me of Two Live Crew is what We Are. Next rap copy I had was Eazy Duz It.

Of the few that I actually bought rather than "dubbing" by holding a tape recorder over a clock radio, I think the first might have been Scarface's "The World Is Yours." I don't believe that was one of his bigger ones but I really liked "Dying With Your Boots On" and "Comin' Agg."

DMX ....And Then There was X. I believe X's storytelling ability is overlooked by his emotion, it really shined in this song, made me start appreciating lyrics, even as a little kid.

Damn, that's a tough question. I've bought so many (and music in general) over the years.

Can't remember the first one I bought, but as for the first one given to me, I'd have to say I was in elementary and it was either Young MC's Stone Cold Rhyming with this track on it.

    Rap is garbage.

My first hip hop album was Eric B and Rakim's Paid In Full...
