This is why I have said this incident needs to be further investigated. You are right this may be completely innocent but evidence tampering and witness intimidation are crimes. I also think if the Sanford PD is corrupt or inherently biased that is actually a more serious issue than the Zimmerman case.
The previous allegations against the SPD were for how they handled cases involving relatives of police officers. That's not the case here. In fact, given how many times Zimmerman had called them, the patrol officers may have a bias against Zimmerman as an overzealous guy who wastes their time with frivolous 911 calls.
From what I understand there is no proof any evidence was ignored or any statements weren't recorded. Police are not stenographers, they can make value judgement and write down as much or as little of someones statement as they see fit. If someone seems unreliable or not credible, they aren't gonna take an entire page to record everything they say, and they might not even ask that many questions. Someone telling the media they recorded what they said incorrectly is nothing if that person hasn't seen the police report. If they really feel that strongly they can just submit a written statement.
I recently was involved in a case where I gave a report to the police. The officer questioned me a second time and at first I felt like he was trying to get me to change my testimony to help them make an arrest. I realize now that he was trying to use me to determine whether the other witness was telling the truth.
So then if an officer ignored evidence as in the situation I described that would be fine? That would seem to go against the many cases that have been overturned due to police ignoring and / or not recording exculpatory evidence.
Or they might consider Zimmerman some one they know who they are likely to have better feelings for than someone they don't. You have stated all along we need more facts are you now saying in regard to this issue more facts are not needed?
I think the key word there is exculpatory. The police/prosecution withholding exculpatory evidence is a huge no no, but here the evidence allegedly withheld is not exculpatory at all. Indeed, it is the opposite of exculpatory.
Again though their job is to try to understand the situation and not just go with what they think it is. The evidence isn't exculpatory in this case but the police can't just ignore. Particularly considering that there is likely to be a civil suit against the SPD and such evidence very likely will play a role in that.

Ignored is a loaded word. Perhaps they did not consider it as useful as other pieces of evidence in determining what happened. Maybe this complaining witness thought that meant her testimony was ignored, but it ain't necessarily so.
