    Obviously because you cannot read.

Do me a favor while we are talking, after you read this quote, head over to wikipedia and look up justified homicide and testimony.

Martin claiming self defense is a bit of a moot issue, yes?

The question comes down to interpretation of the law if Zimmerman had a reasonable excuse to be there or if he improperly put himself in a risky situation.

    The courts will decide.

After Zimmerman made the initial contact, the rest isn't particularly relevant. They had a fight. Who cares who hit who and when if it ends in death? Losing a fight doesn't justify killing someone.

Or you rarely post anything worth more than skim. I guess I should have read more closely. No problem.

So yes if all of your made up circumstances were true that would really prove something. Thanks for chiming in.

Do me a favor while we are talking...

Why don't you do me a favor and head over to the wikipedia and look up Endre Szemerédi and Amadou Toumani Touré

Looks like Martin's mother can dish it out, but she can't take it.

If we ASSUME that Zimmerman was attacked, punched in the face, had a broken nose and his head was slammed on the concrete... Then he shoots Martin... I don't see why anyone would be surprised Zimmerman didn't try to help Martin after he shot him.

Your rarely post anything accurate. And the new reports (that you have previously been calling testimony for some reason) are what I was commenting on. Unlike all of the witness statements to the media, this stuff can actually be determined. If he said Martin was on top beating him when he shot him, the physical evidence will show him to be telling the truth or lying.

Your reasoning is flawed like saying a girl who goes to a dudes apartment is responsible for her rape. He can talk to anyone he wants to on the street, to say that abolishes his right to self defense is just inaccurate. And if talking by zimmerman led to deadly force by Martin, it is extremely relevant.

It is not a crime if in self defense. Legal wording has been posted showing this as a fact. The crime you want is murder. The burden of proof is on you to prove it. This is not debatable if you just want to be argumentitive then thats fine.

Well that interpretation would never fly. Come on JV lets not start making up laws just to have something to argue about. I've been reading your posts for years and don't want it to come to that.

Unless Treyvon was attacked that law does not apply to him and you know it.

well looks like more and more evidence will surface. This is definitely going to be a sensitive case that is going to get a crap load more attention. No thanks to Obama and the Miami Heat and the usual suspects like Rev Jackson. No clue why Obama decided to comment on this case. People are killing each other all the time is he going to comment on every single one?

Anyways what sucks here is a young man has lost his life. Is Trayvon completely an innocent victim and upstanding citizen? is he a martyr like Rev Jackson claims? Defintiely not, some of the stuff coming out today definitely shows he was not the innocent kid who went to the store to buy skittles and juice. But he definitely didn't deserve to get shot and that blame still has to fall on Zimmerman. No clue what a neighborhood watch person needs a loaded gun. You would think a taser or pepper spray would be sufficient if he really needed self defense. Trayvon may have attacked Zimmerman but if it was just a fist fight no one would be dead now. Zimmerman escalted the situation by following him and then further endangered himself and others by carrying a loaded gun.

Oh my goodness, what a terrible tragedy and huge mess this has turned into. I haven't been following this story as closely has most people in this tread, but I have been watching the daily news reports and following some of the commentary on the incident. At first it sounded like Zimmerman was an out of control vigilante who killed someone for no reason. But right now I have no idea what to believe and have no idea what really happened.

At this point I'm thinking both Martin and Zimmerman were guilty of having a terrible misunderstanding. Both individuals saw the other as a threat and that fear and mistrust resulted in a scuffle that ended in a tragic death.

It appears to me that many people have now chosen what side they are going to support, and they're dug in and not likely to budge even if new evidence does emerge.

I hope that cities and towns everywhere take a good hard look at these neighborhood watch groups, and decide what needs to be done so that this type of incident doesn't happen again. It may come out that Zimmerman did nothing wrong at all. But, I can now see that just having these watch groups out there patrolling neighborhoods could possibly result in misunderstandings that end in tragedy.

    Yes, oh so rarely. LOL!

I'm all for waiting for the physical evidence to be presented. It could help clarify a lot. But it won't necessarily be conclusive. Because if he started the fight then was losing and Martin was on top of him and he shot Martin, it isn't self defense.

If the story about Zimmerman having his slammed on the concrete according to a witness is true, then carrying a gun might have saved Zimmerman's life.

Had he been unarmed, this story could have been about a young black man beating a hispanic neighborhood watch to death and would never have made national headlines.

I agree with a lot of what you posted, but there is no new evidence to support that Martin didn't just go out to buy some skittles and tea. The fact that he was suspended from school doesn't support that, neither does the anonymous witness who says Martin attacked Zimmerman who'd been following him.

This is very true. Let me say that your next paragraph isn't universally true. I've taken no side other than patience. I am surprised by some of the reports out today that make it seem like Zimmerman was on the ground being assaulted. I had previously completely dismissed self defense.

Neighborhood watch groups can be very effective. This has been a tragedy but it is unclear what role who played and what that means. I don't think we should start worrying about changing the way things are done until we know why any of this happened.

THis guy was a 100 pounds heavier. So a guy who is a 160 pounds is holding down a 260 pound guy? I have tried to guard guys a 100 pounds heavier than me and it is very hard when they are backing you down. Plus if he is getting pounded on, how is he reaching for the gun without the other guy noticing. I hope they put Zimmerman's ass in prison. If you go looking for trouble don't be shocked if it finds you. Instead of reaching for his gun why not try to block the punches?
