Wellp since there's about a month to go and LeBron and Durant have officially played their first game (second coming in about 2 weeks) against each other, thought I might get a thread up to see peoples opinions on who the MVP is right now and who you think will win it by the end of the season.

I think right now the MVP race is the closest it's been since the start of the season and it's between LeBron and Durant. I'd still give the edge to LeBron because of his numbers but Durant is closing in and I think he really does have a shot at winning it if he keeps this up.

NBA.com has Durant at #1 right now in their MVP ladder.

I've been saying Lebron Lebron Lebron. But Durant has closed the gap. If Durant wins in the rematch I would say Durant.

But overall, Lebron still has been better IMO. Very slightly

Lebron should be a lock, but he seems to be cruising lately until the playoffs. So I'm giving Durant if he continues to play at a high level.

It will go to the player whose team wins the more games.

LeBron should be a clear winner. He's leading his team in points, boards, assists, steals (I think), FG% (I think...but either way he's shooting an insane 54%) and he's arguably the best wing defender in basketball. And his team has a top 3 record. And he's shooting a very good 3 point %. If his name was anything but LeBron there would be no discussion.

This. Also, Thunder is stacked from top to bottom, I doubt they'll even miss KD if he gets injured. Miami is still relying on LBJ,Bosh and Wade, and Wade seems to be breaking down more and more with each passing game.

Dude are you serious??? You definitely can't be talking about the Oklahoma City Thunder when you say they are stacked from top to bottom? Where??

Saying the Thunder wouldn't miss KD if he got hurt might be one of silliest things ever said in the Dish. If KD got hurt this team would be down to the 8th or 9th spot in terms of best teams in the West.

Over 1/4 of the season left. If LeBron finishes strong, it's his. Otherwise, KD might overtake him.

Not 8th or 9th. They have Westbrook and Harden. More like 4th or 5th.

Thunder have a better record, more competitive division, Miami is older, has 2 of the best players ni the league, yet thunder under durant are still playing better and he is the leader of the squad, has come thoruhg for them in the clutch when lebron has shyed away. Should be Durant

LeBron, and it's not particularly close. He's outproducing KD in scoring, rebounding, assists, and defense.

I love KD, and would build around him over LeBron due to age differences, but this is the best, most complete season of LeBron's career. We're seeing LeBron in his prime, the peak of his career--KD isn't quite to his peak yet.

I don't think lebron cares about the mvp. He has 2 already and they didn't get him much. If this was about who is playing the best, that's kevin love, but his team isn't good enough.

Kevin Durant is posting a .235 WS/48 compared to LeBron's .306. Is there a question? Only MJ, Kareem and Wilt had better ws/48 seasons. LeBron leads Durant in EVERY SINGLE advanced stat category except for BLK%.

It'll come down to the voters. I think LeBron honestly does have the edge in production...but his popularity among voters is questionable, and the Heat would fare better without him than the Thunder would without Durant.

And if OKC clinches the top seed in the West and Miami finishes behind Chicago, that tilts things more to Durant.

Regardless of the outcome of last night's game, LeBron is the MVP and frankly it's not even close. LeBron is averaging 27/8/7 while shooting 53% from the field and 36% from 3. Durant's at 28/8/4, while shooting 50% - a great year obviously, but not close to LBJ's.

As much as I dislike LeBron, it's his award and he'll probably be robbed of it this year just like he was last season.

The Lebron James hate is absurd.

If you were starting a team from scratch I can't find one person that wouldn't pick Lebron over Durant. He is "The Most Valuable Player".
