"Best" may mean different things to different people. Martin, Lee, Parsons, Scola, you can make an argument for any of those guys.

If you told other NBA teams they could select one current rocket to be on their team, and they couldn't select Lowry or dragic, what player would be most desired. I think most other NBA teams would pick Parsons, because he's already good, and getting better every game.

I think the player that is most important to the Rockets is Scola. We don't have any other players that can do what he does, score consistently from the low post. Lee can sub for Martin and do a good job, Bud on certain nights has done OK playing small forward, we now have Camby backing up Dalenbert, but Patterson can't do what Scola can do in the low post, no one on our team can.

Goran must prove he can do it for one or more seasons but might not be here because he is a free agent.
Goran now in playoff mode and Kyle at his peak are not far away.
Remember we had Lin, that would be some intense competition.

I put Scola because Martin (no matter how much better we know he could be in better circumstances) has been crap on a stick all year. I'm very forgiving of bad games in isolation; but I'm not just going to shrug off a guy having horrible season even if it's because of basketball reasons.

Parsons will be in this spot by next year, no question, unless either Martin or Scola has a renaissance.

Good to see so many people saying Martin on here. It seems with Lee emerging the hate for K-Mart has come to an all time high in Houston. During that dry spell I respect him for playing through an injury. People may not like the way he plays, but the man can flat out score 20 consistently a night.

Its been a rough season for him but he's played through injury, trade rumors, and has still managed to average around 18 points a game.

So what do you rather have? You'd rather have him score 20 + points without anything than 10 pts 6 rbs 5 assists 1.5 steals and some blocks?

That's not the question in the poll though. Of course Parsons is most desirable because he's a rookie on an awesome, cheap contract... that doesn't necessarily make him the best player though, it just makes him the best asset. (Do you begin to see why Morey calls players assets? There is a differentiation there. Joe Johnson is a very good player, but he is a negative asset because of his contract.)

Hmmmmmm, interesting. I really thought Scola would win out here.

I'm wondering how much difference a healthy Martin would make.

Scola is the second best player on the team after Lowry IMO. Dragic needs to show he can do it night in and night out over a season. We might not even make the playoffs with him as our PG, we would have a few more wins with Lowry.
