Does the NBA need a 'challenge' flag like the NFL?

Look it was a bad call but honestly I thought Lee fouled Dirk too until I saw the replay. It looked like he fouled him in real time so just calm down about the league being fixed and all this crap.. Yeah the league wanted LA to get swept last year? And wanted Miami to lose?

Yeah, that was bull****. We missed that shot anyways so it doesn't matter, but clearly BS.

Sometimes when a team gets rolling the league can't "fix" the outcome. Dallas hit a groove last year.

The league couldn't fix, for example, LeBron's disappearance in the Finals. He just....vanished. Almost like he put money on Dallas.

There is so much whining going on here it's pathetic.

There was obviously no foul on that play, I will agree with that, but to say that cost us the game is ludicrous. Let's say the ref hadn't blown that call, what would have happened? The rebound went off of Camby and Scola's hands out of bounds, so Dallas would have gotten the ball back anyways.

We played hard and came up short in the end. It sucks, but it happens. Bad calls are a part of the game.

In response to the actual question by the OP: I wouldn't mind seeing challenges in the NBA. However, the NFL challenge flag cannot be used to challenge a penalty, only to challenge the ruling on the field, so to give coaches the power to challenge a foul call in the NBA would be something entirely different. I think it would help though.

That's interesting because the replay that was shown up here in Dallas clearly showed his right foot touching the 3 point line. You don't suppose that there's some sort of (gasp) conspiracy against the Rockets by Directv and the NBA? Where's Mulder and Skully when you need them?

its one thing getting one bad call...but i counted three..in crunch time...in favor for the other team. of course people are going to complain when their team doesnt get the calls they want. but the outcome could've been slightly different if it werent for those calls. game is over. time to move on. got it.

These guys are supposed to be professionals. Their are different standards between a typical fan like you and these officials who are getting paid for it. They can't be anticipating calls.

Yeah, it was probably a blown call, but there are a lot of missed calls that go both ways during the course of the season, and I'm willing to bet that in the end, they even out. Like other posters have already said, these calls didn't even really change the outcome:

    1) even if there was no call on the lee foul, the Mavs were probably going to get the ball back anyway.

    2) On the 2/3 point shot call, it wouldn't have made a difference in the final outcome, as we lost by 2

    3) on the Dragic "offensive foul", it would have been a 24 second violation or Dallas rebound anyway. If anything, having the whistle blown prevented a fast break from going the other way.

In the end, the Rockets got an open shot to have a chance to win the game, and it missed. That is life. They had a very good chance to win, and it didn't go down. Honestly, the way the Mavs were scoring so easily at the end, it was amazing the Rockets stayed as close as they did.

I didn't say they anticipated it I said that it looked like a foul in real time. They may be paid for it, but they're still human like me and can see things wrong.

Do you realize how stupid that really is?

Those picks - The Rockets 13-17 Mavs 22-30 along with the Knicks pick which isnt likely to be lower than 10.

Three first round picks = three guaranteed contracts to players who have very little chance of sniffing the court.

Not making the playoffs also restricts the Rockets ability to trade future draft picks since they cant do that until they satisfy the obligation to NJ for Twill.

Its too late to think about tanking .... You want to tank , you start months ago.

F yeah, Morris a is asafe bet. Thats why his but was kept in Dleague for ever and not brought up to commit off the bat like players after the 14th.

Do you need a rememder of who is doing just that? yes you do apparently.

    Leonard (15)
    Brooks (25)
Even the 17th pick Shumpert could be in arguments if you wanted to trade Scola and Lowry for Gasol.

Ref's should also do the dramatic baseball-3rd-strike-out-wind-up-finger-pointing dance maneuver everytime someone fouls out

Watching on TV get you one angle from afar. There are 3 refs on the court, all watching at much closer range and should have a better eye at watching movement than most people. And the ref who should call the foul should theoretically speaking have the best angle at seeing contact or lack thereof.

I'm not saying that the refs should get things right all the time. But you can't compare a non-professional watching TV to supposedly the best referees in the world watching from the sidelines.
