Talent and Potential wise they are very much the same. In the mental they are worlds apart.

Harden has figured out how to use his talent and potential to benefit his team.
Evans hasn't even learnt how to use his talent and potential to benefit himself let alone his team.

I like both guys. There are parts of tyrekes game that needs improvement. I yjink evans incoming role as the man altered his game. Harden up until last yr was considered a bust. To me, if harden was elite as some say, he wouldn't be coming off the bench even though he's playing starters minutes. Harden in sac town getting all the defensive attention might make him look different and ineffecient. He has the luxury of playng with 2 of the best scorers in the league. If a guy like derozoan played with westbrook and durant, how would ur view of him change?

People don't understand situations it seems.

Harden isn't the focal point on offense. Comparing FG%...yeah and one guy is the main guy on his team, he's going to take more shots period. Harden can take 8 shots per game and all of them be open shots while Tyreke can't have the luxury of that.

This has a lot to do with it I'd say. Not that I've seen many SAC/OKC games, but certainly it's also the type of shots/looks you're getting that makes a big difference. It's different being "the man" on a team full of scrubs, and being a second unit dude playing with two of the best scorers in the league. Can't undersestimate that.

I cannot agree with you more, I was just trying to refer to a possible counterargument. I am not a fan or Tyreke either.

Anybody selecting Reke over Harden needs their head examined. There isn't anything Reke does better. Nothing. Plus, he hasn't shown the same progression and improvement over his career that Harden has.

People should also realize something about Reke's rookie season: The last 20 or so games were solely dedicated to making sure he finished as a 20/5/5 player to bolster his Rookie-of-the-Year credentials. It was a joke, much of which can be blamed on Paul Westphal who was his chief enabler.

Reke works out part of every summer with Russell Westbrook and Derrick Rose in LA, but those two guys have left him eating dust. Maybe one of these days he will develop his left hand and improve his outside shooting like those guys.

So Tyreke is not a better passer or rebounder than Harden?

    Okay...

Definitely not a better passer. Is there really any debate about that? Just watch them.

    Rebounding I'd call about even.

Tyreke played PG for an entire year (his best year) and averages more assist.

I know you're going to say something like "The ball sticks to his hands" but he can pass. But lets remember that he is the focal point of the offense unless Cousins decides to play that game and as such must jack up shots.

Yall act like Reke is some scrub when he's really just a really young player trying to be the leader of a team. Something Harden hasn't had to deal with or even think about dealing with and has considerably less pressure on him.

All I can say is just watch them play. I watched Reke a bunch his first two years (not so much this season) and couldn't care less that he played PG. It's very obvious Harden is a better, more creative and more intelligent passer. He has a firmer grip on what his limitations are. Reke wants to play like a superstar but he doesn't have the game to back it up.

Reke isn't a scrub, but Harden is a much better player no matter how you shape the discussion. Sam Presti clearly made the right choice. It isn't debatable. If the Kings could dump Reke for Harden, they would do it in a minute.

"Why don't we start an oppinion board that says ... who is the better player with more upside that you would rather have on your team ... Harden or Tyreke Evans and see what everyone says ... I think Tyreke evans either wins or its extremely close ..." -- mzsajjad

dude you're crazy, the rookie tyreke was pretty good. but since then, he has really lost a lot. i don't what it is, but obviously he isn't the same player

Harden, on the other hand, has gotten better every single season. and on a team with Westbrook and Durant(the best scorer in the NBA) he does extremely well. He is w/o a doubt, the player this organization needs. A player, who will come in, give his 110% every night. and more importantly, will pump a great lot of energy into this city. I would much rather go out to a Rockets game with Harden than a Rockets game with Evans.

you're obvsiously delusional about who the better player is. You keep on saying that every GM in the NBA would take Evans for Harden. FALSE

Better rebounder by a little but much worse passer. Harden get one less assist a game even though he plays more minutes and dominates the ball. Harden is the third ball handler on his team and still averages 3.7 assists a game.

Tyreke is a poor man's Steve Francis. Worse in almost every category.

I wouldn't really compare the two because Francis was a PG and Tyreke is wingman but has the ability to play point guard.

I still think Tyreke has a lot more potential. Until Harden is 'That guy' it's just unfair to compare the two. I think plenty of guys would do well in his position, I bet guys like Jimmer would flourish in his position.

If Tyreke gets his shot down he's going to be a load to handle. He's a really good slasher and if he ever develops a shot ala like how Wade had to he's going to be close to unstoppable.

Okay but who else on the Kings are going to take those shots? If anything the Kings have given the dude the keys to the car.

I just don't see how we can compare a guy who gets open look and gets to perform under little pressure and compare it to a guy who wins and losses are all on his back.

Not that Harden is Ariza, obviously he's better...but people see that certain players can't move beyond their roles. How about Jj Hickson who was supposed to be a big building block for the Cavs, then when they found out "Damn, playing with Lebron made this dude look much better." dealt him away.

Point is, Harden is in a MUCH better situation coming off the bench and not carrying that load. I look at Tyreke as a player that just doesn't mentally have his game down and that can easily change and if it does he's going to be a premier SG in the NBA.
