Did you see the way Bill described he really felt Thorpe should've been in? I think the media representatives, who also had a vote in this, might have given Horry / Elie the nod over Thorpe for whatever reason.
The only reason the deal was made for Drexler was that Drexler forced his way out of portland to play with his buddy hakeem, nothing more or less. If the rockets had anything thought at all, it was hakeem demanding that the deal get done. Your reasoning is a bunch of hogwash. I don't even see how the rockets won their first championship, with the kind of non scorers hakeem had around him, according to you.

Clyde requested a trade because Portland was re-building and Portland obliged by trading him to a team he would have liked to play. Clyde made it very clear he did not want to be part of the re-building and Portland did him a favor because of his long history with the team. Rockets came to Hakeem with the proposal and he had no objection to it. No one is even arguing that! None of that changes WHY THE ROCKETS MADE THE TRADE, (injuries to players, Vernon suspension, stagnating offense etc.) which I detailed and which you chose to ignore (and I am not surprised). The reasons I listed were confirmed by multiple Rockets sources/interviews. Look, this is not the first time you have pretended to know about the Rockets. You dont need to pretend.

Horry and Harrerra are not Rockets management who made the deal. The trade was made by Rudy/Dawson/Les. What does players hating the deal have to do with WHY THE ROCKETS MADE THE TRADE?!? Zboy, don't waste your time, we all know it's not just Clyde & Dream getting together though that was a bonus and they might have pushed for it, that's alright. Dream always like Maxwell but I'm sure going into the stands and getting suspended, probably a lot of other things behind closed doors, that made him and the rest of team turn on Max. I didn't know before but today been reading up on the trade and Vernon didn't show up at first after Drexler was traded. He refused to practice and Rudy T basically said he couldn't deal with the guy anymore. Nobody knows what's going in Max's head and what he's going to do next. I understand more now why they would want to get rid of him. Thorpe being the victim is still unforgivable, he was heartbroken.

Dude this is what you said: Drexler was brought in for two reasons: Opinion: 1) To make sure the Rockets get into playoffs. With Hakeem out, Rockets had NO ONE who needed to be double teamed. With Drexler on-board the Rockets were immediately able to run isolation plays and command double teams. The trade paid of immediately. Opinion: 2) To get Hakeem some help in terms of carrying the offense. I am not talking about just scoring points here. I am talking about creating shots for yourself and others. I have never seen a championship run where the team had relied so heavily on one man to carry the offensive load as was the case with the 94 team. Rudy used to struggle to give him a couple of minutes of rest a game. This was taking a toll on Hakeem and Drexler was brought in share the offensive load. Opinion: 3) Easy baskets. Drexler was one of the best open court players. All iterations of Clyde is a star. You seriously want me to take you seriously. I don't remember hearing CD or anybody saying that Clyde was brought into insure the Rockets MAKE the playoffs; but I'm pretty sure nobody makes a deal NOT to make the playoffs. That was some staggering insight there. Clyde is a scorer. And one of the best open court players. Way to point out the obvious. Does anybody disagree that he is or was one of the best open court players ever? And i still don't see how what he was pertains to the trade. Conversely, OT was one of the best rebounders and defenders in the game. But that doesn't make or unmake my point.
