I don't know why you just keep yelling "HuffPo" as if it actually bears a morsel of relevance to the subject. These are facts, and are not items under investigation:

    1. Trayvon Martin was armed with a bag of skittles and a can of iced tea.
    2. He had his cellphone upon him at the time of the incident.
    3. His screams for help were clearly heard on 911 calls, and the police refused to release those calls to the public until they were sued by Trayvon's parents. They are legally required to make them available. By contrast, the 911 calls of the Ohio school shooting were published in less than 24 hours.
    4. The police made no attempt to identify Trayvon after he was killed. They did not bother to find out where he was headed in the neighborhood, or if anyone around knew him.
    5. They made no attempt to investigate the contents of his cellphone, find out who he spoke to most recently, or use it as a tool to contact his loved ones.
    6. Trayvon Martin lay in the morgue as a nameless John Doe for three whole days, and was not identified until an anguished mother who could not find her son finally pressured the police into locating him for her.
    7. Trayvon Martin's lifeless body was tested for drugs. Zimmerman, the killer, was never given even a simple alcohol test.
    8. Zimmerman was released with the same clothes he wore at the time of the killing, and thus a key piece of evidence was immediately lost.
    9. George Zimmerman was questioned and released upon his own word.
    10. At least one witness who was interviewed by the police has stated on public record that she was corrected by a police officer when she asserted that it was Trayvon she heard screaming, not Zimmerman.

Again, do you dispute any of the above FACTS? And if you do, do these sound to you like a normal police investigation, or a cover up in progress?

You are entitled to your opinion, but you are not entitled to your own facts.

With all the racial warmth, love and goodness in this thread I thought this appropriate.

from the same article....Zimmerman sure doesn't sound like a racist to me. Shame on the media for jumping to that conclusion.

I think this maybe the current picture of Martin that bigtexxx wanted to see of the 'black' to evaluate properly...pretty intimidating, huh? I feel bad for anyone who lives in bigtexxx's neighborhoods and finds hoodys comfortable or fashionable

WHat I do think is disturbing is the police and how they handled the case. I don't mind Bigtexx saying lets wait to hear more facts or don't convict Zimmerman, but the way he goes about it referring to trayvon as "the black" etc is just quite disturbing reflection on himself. That said, I still want zimmerman to get a fair trial and the media shouldn't convict someone first. We saw this in the case with that guy who video taped his roommate. When I read the store I thought this kid should goto jail etc, then I read the NYtimes article that had more elaborate text messages both from the victim and accussed and it opened up a whole new story, but he was already under so much scrutiny and got 10 years of his life where as the if the victim didn't commit suicide(and if you read his views and text, it seemed almost unrelated as he wasn't even as bothered at first by the webcam initially) then he probably at worst would've gotten expelled.
but yea let the court of law lay out all the facts and figure out. From what we know, zimmerman looks like he is introuble, but still a lot to learn. Just the way bigtexxx goes about it is pretty disgraceful

Seriously, like he just called him up and said "I want to represent you, k, bye". He has got to be lying about that.

    this

That the police handled this poorly is a legitimate argument (and from the known facts probably a correct one).

Arguing this incident is evidence of societal racism is a stretch, and inflames people for no reason.

I'm not calling him a racist but don't racist people (or those accused of racism) usually jump on that or a similar defense as soon as they are labeled as such?

"I'm not racist, I have black friends." That one seems to be the most common.

Is it not possible he secretly felt one way while doing what his wife and others wanted him to? Haven't we all did that, that being doing something we really don't like or agree with to please others?

Surely you of all people would wait for all the facts to arise before condemning the media based on one person's comments, right?

Maybe to you, it's not societal racism. But to others, it's a war on stereotypes and a flawed justice system full of double standards and ineptitude:

If only Trayvon had been packing with a concealed weapons permit this could have been prevented.

If you spend time helping minorities or other races and are later accused as a racist you should just keep you hole shut and not defend yourself? Are you saying those who go out of their way to support other races are doing it out of guilt or as a cover?

I agree with you on the "I have black friends" tip, thats always a laughable meme of a defense against racism, but what you're saying more broadly is if someone's accused of being a racist they are damned if they defend themselves or not.

Not that I think you to bea racist, but prove to me you're not. What would you say to defend yourself?
