Horry's shot was much worse because it was premeditated and he knocked him into the announcer's table. Even then Nash got right back up and kept on playing.

As I said earlier, that kind of hit is legal in soccer. He's lower than a soccer player, he's like a volleyball player. He's a little girl. You got fouled, get up, take your shots and move on.

Aww, did Blake get a boo-boo?

Smith never made a play on the ball. Ejection warranted. But I rolled my eyes and scoffed at the sight of Blake Griffin's corpse laying on the court.

If that was Griffin he would have flipped himself out of the building.

If Kobe flopped on that play Damp would have gotten ejected.
That's the name of the game.
    Anything for a victory.

I don't really understand what's so difficult between the two factions bickering in here.

Smith's foul was, by definition (excessive contact, not making a play on the ball) a flagrant foul. It was a hard hit, but it wasn't that hard... I don't think it warrants suspension, but an ejection was fair.

Griffin's reaction to the foul was an embarrassment, as his reactions often are. Given his history as the boy who cried wolf, so to speak, I'm not buying that this foul was hard enough to get anywhere close to injuring him.

Suffice it to say I wouldn't condone either player's actions, but I'm sure as hell not going to feel bad about this happening to Griffin.

Scola was not hit in the face he was hit in the chest. I guess he tried to sell it as being hit in the face.

As for the 80's this isn't the 80's anymore. It's 2012 and 80 % of what was allowed in the 80's isn't allowed now. Blame Stern for making the NBA soft but what happened in the 80's isn't really relevant to this debate. I've always said I wish things was like it was back in the day. Even in the 80's a hit like that would have led to a brawl. A brawl these days leads to a player missing half of the season which means he's missing out on money.

The announcer kinda gave it away. "Gotta protect the marquee (read: superstar calsl) players."

No matter how much flop griffin was doing that was a weak ass foul (in terms of cheapness) and an even more moronic behaviour afterwards. are you guys kidding me?

Good ol' days? That should have been an ejection. You can't compare Smith's foul on Griffin to that foul in the vid.

If someone clotheslines your favorite player, are you going to let it slide and say "oh, thats just good hard basketball?"

Flagrant foul on Smith was right; Griffin shouldn't try to hard to sell the foul though; it isn't like Griffin has the body type of someone like Aaron Brooks.

Nate tackled Dragon from behind while Dragon was in the air. That's far more dangerous than Smith bumping Griffin while running side by side. Nate gets a F1 while Smith gets a F2, ejection & 2 game suspension. That's nothing more than "protecting the marquee players" which Stern says doesn't happen. Since the suspension came from the NBA, I figure Stern at least had to sign off on it. So Stern says it doesn't happen, but does it himself.

For those of you that say Nate made a play on the ball, I ask this question. "How does a 5-9 player from behind make a "play on the ball" in the out streached hand of a 6-3 player going up for a layup? Any physics majors 'round here.

Yes, we are kidding you. We're sorry :)

When Griffindor inevitably gets a real injury, I wonder if people are going to cheer. I know I will.

Nate wasn't exactly behind Dragic when he grabbed him.

    Smith got an ejection. Done.
1 game suspension? Along with the rules of 2012.
More than that? Its Blake Griffin for goodness sake.

Griffin flying in the air... flopping to a whole new level.
Griffin rolling like he got shot.... pathetic...
Griffin staying on the ground for a good 5 mins.... embarrassment!

Watch it again at the 1:40 mark. Fisher hit Scola in the face with his head which is why Fisher is rubbing it at after the foul. Scola also popped back up after a second and didn't act like a vagina unlike Griffin. Its not even close.

Yes, it was a flagrant on Smith. Yes, Griffin is a vagina.

There was no flop on this play, exaggeration maybe with holding his leg out after he was hit and holding his knee when he got up. If you do look at the video closely he was ready to jump of the ground with one foot already rising he was not balanced and was hit by a 2'40 pound bowling ball running full speed. I don't like how he took his time to get up and his teammates swarmed jason though, when i get hit on the court no matter how hard, i jump right back up.

Soccer players don't wear helmets and pads, just like basketball players. The point is, this kind of collision doesn't usually result in injury, even without protective gears. Throwing someone to the floor while going up for a layup is far more dangerous. I don't know why there are still people who think otherwise.
