Dodge, dodge and dodge. How convenient a way for you all to avoid answering the question. Not five years ago you would have just said no, but now those who oppose gay marriage and are too ashamed or whatever to admit to it, to let their freak flags fly as finalsbound suggests... Now they all have a convenient way to dodge the question and hide away their distaste for people that are different than them. Not 30 years ago, these same kind of people (and my grandmother was one of them) used to say, "I'm not racist but I am against interracial marriage. Because think of the children." More recently the argument was made against gay adoption, i.e. "I say live and let live but think of the children and the ridicule they'll endure. Oh, but not from me, never from me." Nobody wanted the government out of the marriage business, nobody even thought about that, until gays said they wanted to get married.
very weak argument, and a complete red herring gay marriage goes against many religions -- interracial marriage does not major difference but I know you don't respect religion, so you won't understand
Deuteronomy chapter 7 1 “When the LORD your God brings you into the land which you go to possess, and has cast out many nations before you, the Hittites and the Girga****es and the Amorites and the Canaanites and the Perizzites and the Hivites and the Jebusites, seven nations greater and mightier than you, 2 “and when the LORD your God delivers them over to you, you shall conquer them and utterly destroy them. You shall make no covenant with them nor show mercy to them. 3 “Nor shall you make marriages with them. You shall not give your daughter to their son, nor take their daughter for your son. Sounds like a good rationale against interracial marriage...and genocide! hooray.
Politically, I'm all over the map, but I'm very gay friendly and think gay people should be afforded the same rights as straights. However, I don't think the whole separation of marriage and state is a dodge........I think it's an excellent idea. If the government is going to legally provide certain distinctions to arbitrary alignments between two people, then let’s call those alignments something like civil unions and let them apply to EVERYONE…….straight or gay. Leave the term “marriage” strictly to churches, and let churches decide who they want to marry. They’re going to do that anyway.
Who are the 4 people against gay marriage whose names didn't show up in the poll? How does that work? Someone logging out and then voting?
I have no problem with gay people. They do have equal rights. Everybody has the right to marry somebody of the opposite sex.
"The blacks" have the right to replace their names with Anglo-Saxon versions too, and to apply white paint to their bodies. Then, and only then, will they be treated like the photogenic white people they truly are!
Why leave marriages strictly to churches. Marriage is not strictly religious, in many countries it has nothing to do with religion.
