lol, I was coming in here specifically to post "How stoned were you when this was posted?" But seriously, this is some really cool stuff to think about.
We have people living to 120 today but the average world lifespan is only 67. So makes perfect sense to me. The average lifespan in richer countries in the year 3000 would like be closer to 200 but not for the entire globe.
The trouble with our times is that the future is not what it used to be. Paul Valery (1871 - 1945) Spoiler It surprised me to find but ... somebody went and made a country and western song out of that quote ... Somebody told me that she was in town, I found out today Lord how it hurts me to hear that she’s’ down, but what else can I say I know her sorrow, I know her pain, and I know her need I once loved her a lot, but the future’s just not, not what it used to be
That's because in the future basketball will evolve into a contact sport with trampolines.... wait the future is now.. <object style="height: 390px; width: 640px"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/2ouXw328WYI?version=3&feature=player_detailpage"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/2ouXw328WYI?version=3&feature=player_detailpage" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="640" height="360"></object>

You know what else would be cool? To find lists made by people who wrote it around a century ago. I bet they had no idea on most of the cool things, just like us now.
I've been enamored with the future since the 1950's, when I started reading science fiction, and Disney had some terrific TV shows speculating about the future. For example, they showed a space station remarkably similar to what Kubrick imagined in 2001: A Space Odyssey. I'm still waiting for that one. One thing you can be assured of... many things that you assume will happen won't, and some things will show up/be invented/occur that no one imagined. What seems to be logical today merely proves that "logic" can be an illusion. Prepare to be surprised.
The future has a liberal bias. Just projecting current trends those societal changes are very likely to happen in most industrialized countries but the real challenge is what sort of backlash will we see from the non industrialized world and even from reactionaries in industrialized countries. In many ways the war on terror, culture war and political divide is really due to the conflict of modernity with tradition.
We all know about mind reading, synthetic humans, law enforcement entering androids, space elevators and mind uploading. But Rockets winning a championship til the year 4000? Drummer2k must be on crack or just stupid, it's embarassing.
