After some posters stated that they would rather Chase Budinger than Kevin Martin, I need to check if I've gone off the deep end. Assuming both are healthy and money isn't an issue(we are already paying both of them), who would you rather have taking minutes at the wing spot?

Chase gives you a little less offense but a lot more defense, rebounding and passing for about 1/12 the cost.

"Assuming both are healthy and money isn't an issue" I am going to respectfully disagree with you. Martin would absolutely torch Bud on offense, with both healthy. And neither are great defenders (although I agree that Bud has the defensive edge). It should be Martin in a landslide

I think the bench could use his scoring and ability to draw fouls. He is also a better man to man defender than bud.

How is this even close? Kevin Martin is one of the best offensive tools in the game that isn't on a max contract. Bud can dunk blind folded.

My bigger problem is having both Scola and Martin in the same unit. They're too one dimensional players. Scola lost a jump ball to frigin' CP3 and his floppy defensive ability is a liability. Martin has improved his defense this year (or at least his interest in playing it), but it's still a weakness that is only countered when he's really on fire.

The only saving grace is that we have Calembert now to spread out the 5 and essentially always have a big around the rim. Without that paint presence, wings and cutters slip past martin and easily beat Scola's refusal to jump or go for a block.

Assuming money isn't an issue? WTF kind of question is that?

I'm sort of confused by the question as well. I think it has a lot more to do with our rotations than any single player. We just shouldn't have that many one dimensional players on the floor at the same time.

Because of Bear, Parsons and Camby, easy choice: Martin.

Chase has been pretty good in his role coming off the bench. Martin's lost his best trait, his efficiency.

They are both already getting paid. We can't get rid of a contract. So who do you give your minutes to this season?

    Is this a joke?

    Kevin Martin by far.

No one's doing any major transactions for the rest of the season. Right now, it doesn't matter what they're being paid, just how good they are. And for this season, Martin is still way better than Budinger.

    Basketball-wise, Kevin Martin,

    Value-wise, I'm not so sure.

That's not the question you asked.

You asked "who would you rather have".

I'd rather have Chase Budinger. Better return on the dollar.

Martin's cap space is worth more than Martin's basketball skills right now.

Fact is, in addition to sucking this year, Martin isn't healthy and money does matter. No way around that.

Even if both were healthy and playing to their utmost potential, I'd rather trade Martin, if that speaks more to the spirit of your hypothetical.

You can't just take money out of the equation.

Jared Jeffries wouldn't have been a pill to swallow a couple years ago if you take money out of the equation, but he was, because of his awful contract.

This is the question I asked.

"Assuming both are healthy and money isn't an issue(we are already paying both of them), who would you rather have taking minutes at the wing spot? "

What is so hard to understand? We are assuming Kmart gets healthy before the end of the season and the trade deadline is over.

    Read your poll, bro.

    You ask two different questions.

Your hypothetical is really, really biased in favor of Kevin.

So what were you expecting to hear from people? That they think, all things being equal, Chase is better than Kevin? Really?
