They were thinking forward the whole time, created a new government with very little to base it off of. Yes. But many of them were extremely wealthy and had little concern for the little guy.

There were the liberals of their day, they wanted change and revolution. Even people who call themselves conservatives would be viewed as liberals if they lived in the 1700s.

i will allow you to answer the question based on your own definition, a definition i'm quite curious to read, in and of itself.

    Obviously you are talking about:

People with green mohawks with piercings connecting their nose to their belly button. They also smoke peyote and watch Garden State everyday and talk about all the worlds problems and that somebody should fix them.

I gave my response. They invented a new government always looking forward. That is the definition of a liberal? Thinking of how to make things better in the future? They also guided their decisions by reason, not faith.

Liberal and conservative is all relative. Liberal just means you are interested in doing things in different ways, hopefully for the better (but it does not always turn out that way, see communism). By definition conservatives want to do things the traditional ways. But in the end we are all liberals in some way. Most of us do not believe in slavery, or keep women at home, we believe people should have equal rights, at least in theory, etc. All these are liberal values until very recently in human history.

    1. Befitting a demon; fiendish.
    2. Motivated by a spiritual force or genius; inspired

Judging by the 2nd definition, typical GOPr's fall in the 2nd category.

Relative to their time, yes, they were progressive/liberal. Of course, they didn't approve women voting, had slaves, etc., but I think their views on things were quite progressive at the time.
