agree I'd love to see Courtney start for the rest of the season , and Kevin can come back during the playoffs to contribute along w/ Lowry , though I hope Lowry can come back sooner

Gurantee I talk to Jordanhill/Ariza/Lee/K-Martin...but watch K-Mart Gona Redeem himself espcially he see lee playin good as hell...you'll sha'll see...we need his scoring at least for playoff push and hopefully farther...he actually play good D now. even in 2k his defense is better but shooting a bit off now n lee is better in the game Lol

Without a healthy Martin we won't do squat in playoffs we need him and Kyle.

We should sign Jermaine Taylor. I always thought he had potential to be a great back up.

Once Lowry gets back we'll be fine on guard depth. Dragic is perfectly capable of 30 minutes per game off the bench in a Manu-type role. We really need Lowry healthy for the playoffs though.

Well said. Seems like Martin is everyone's favorite punching bag these days.

Anyone here who is honestly HAPPY about Kevin Martin being out an extended period of time . . . you're crazy.

If you think Martin sucks, then you should trust McHale to bench him as appropriate (something he's done on multiple occasions this season). Courtney Lee is playing great right now, but he can't play 48 minutes; and it's not like Budinger is setting the world on fire with his defense.

If you want to tank for a higher lottery pick, just realize you're rooting for the diminution in trade value of one of the only assets (Martin) capable of being traded for a lottery pick. Given that (according to the recent statistical analysis released) the Rockets currently only have a 3% chance of getting any pick higher than #13 (and only a 1% chance of picking higher than #12), Rockets fans should be praying for the APPRECIATION of the Rockets' current assets, Martin being both valuable and expendable at the moment. A healthy and productive Kevin Martin can possibly fetch you a mid-lottery pick. That's better than you can do by sucking.

IMHO, any rational Rockets fan wants Kevin Martin back healthy, either being productive (best case) or playing fewer minutes (not as good but better than not having him).

    But maybe that's just me.

Bima, I'm not sure it makes a lot of difference whether Martin is healthy or not. I'm convinced that the more teams see him in McHale's offense the less they're going to like him--McHale has no earthly idea how to utilize Martin and doesn't seem to care enough to make any attempt to play to Martin's strengths. In other words, Martin's value is already where it will be in the offseason.

That said I would love it if he came back and played really well. I just don't see the "played really well" happening unless Kevin McHale suddenly morphs into Rick Adelman.

Clearly the only way out of this is microfracture surgery.

Exactly, but we don't have that player and we were getting smoked on defense. It's hard to have a 2 guard that can't play a lick of D because the best scorers are usually 2s or 3s and you can't always have your three cover your man.

Martin is great for a system like Adelman. Or with a post up player like Yao. In our system he doesn't fit too well and I am okay with giving him up for something in return. I wouldn't just shop him for nothing though, he is a good player, and can certainly help many teams, just not our current roster...imo

Kmart is the most under-rated player here on CF. Every bad result is his fault somehow.

The fact is KMart is a an elite player offensively and can put up big numbers without too many touches. The issue is that McHale has been unable to run plays for him making him less effective. The Rox will do nothing in the playoffs without him. I really appreciate him carrying on with his game despite not being a 100%.

Nobody will give us much for him now that the rule changes and being exposed as a system player have driven down his value. I’m fine with just taking a late first for him. I don’t want to see him on the team next year, pretty much playing like C-Bud at 12X the price.

With a tea like that, I'm surprised he didn't just crumpet to the floor. At least you can't say he was milking it.
