does anyone have link or video of this "Flagrant Nate: Warriors point guard Nate Robinson was called for a flagrant foul on Houston’s Goran Dragic early in the third quarter. The play came after Dragic had picked Robinson’s pocket in the frontcourt and went downcourt for a breakaway layup – with Robinson chasing. Robinson came down hard on Dragic’s arms and then appeared to perhaps shove Dragic on the way down. But the officials ruled that not to be the case. In fact, the call was ruled a Flagrant 2 foul on the court, which would have meant a Robinson ejection. But after review, the officials downgraded the call to Flagrant 1, allowing Robinson to remain."
Thanks for the link, JCole....looks like a Flagrant 1 but if Dragic could have done what most South American/Italian soccer players do when they get fouled and rolled on the ground in agony, it could been a 2 No wonder GSW lost so badly....Nate was their starting PG!!
Nate gets a F1 for tackling Dragon from behind, while Jason Smith gets a F2 & ejected for bumping into Blake Griffin(no use of hands or arms) on another layup attempt. So super stars don't get calls do they Czar Stern!
Plus Blake Griffin is a total douchebag who deserves whatever he gets, while Goran is a great hardworking guy.
To be fair to the refs Griffin acted like a huge p***y and laid around pretending to be injured, while Goran just got up and played the game. Officials aren't too smart, they're easily tricked.
Dude. bumping? Lowering the shoulder is automatically a foul. Being a star and playing hurt helped make that a F2 but that was a F2. There looked too much intent. Nate did not pull Dragic down, watch the replays. They collided hard going up but Nates hand did not connect with Dragic on the downward motion which would have been the reason to keep F2 but since not it was a F1, very understandable. Smith lowered his shoulder on a run. F yeah thats a F2. Heres a simple question for you. Same two plays by same both players (Nate and Smith), but its done to our players which one do you see as the F1 and F2?
They called a flagrant 2 because on a flagrant 2 they can review it, and then change it to a 1. If they called it a flagrant 1 they wouldnt be able to review the play. Its was an obvious flagrant foul, but its great that they took the time to review the play to get it right.
He comes across him with the right arm for a simple F1, but then grabs his whole body with both arms when he realises he isnt stopping the Dragon. spins, throws him to the ground and walks away. Gutless play, and an F2 all day.
This is what they said on the telecast and I'm glad the refs called it a 2, so that they could get a better look at things. That's all we're asking for is to take the time to get the call right.
It's not a F2. F1 is fine. On blake, I thought that was BS. Blake over acted it. The refs fell for it. If Blake didn't over act it and got right back up, no f2. Plus, it helps when the nba protects their superstars. Blah! Superstar power needed in H-Town!!!!
The refs actually only called it a 1, but I like the communication that the refs had with Mark Jackson, and that says alot about him as a coach whether you like him or not. Jackson sat Nate down anyways, and only played him for a short stint after that. A flagrant 2 would have been an ejection, and could have led to much nastier situation with a player like Nate Robinson.
It just looked like a hard foul to me, and yes a flagrant, because he went for the body-tackle instead of the ball. BUT, this is the reason there is a difference between and F1 and an F2. Nate did not appear to have any malicious intent, but was simply trying to play tough and give a hard foul on an opponent layup. This is a big-boy sport after all, and fortunately there was no harm done, nor any intended I think. That's why they down-graded it, and rightly so. Now if Westbrook had done that to Dragic during the OKC game, then it would have been a totally different story, as Dragic was under that guy's skin the whole game, and Westbrook doesn't know how to keep his cool. Robinson never appeared to have lost his cool at any point in the game, so yeah I can see why it should have been only a 1 instead of a 2.
this came after a steal which made Nate mad. there was a malicious intent in that play as he grabbed dragic to the floor with his left hand.
