^^ Gasol is one of the best big passers, the guy clearly doesn't watch the Lakers. It's not uncommon for him to throw lobs or make nice passes, he does it all the time. Lobs for Bynum, behind the back passes, touch passes, the whole repertoire.
You're fouling someone receiving a pass, not someone shooting the ball. Yes, it should be a foul on the floor.
If a guy gets fouled going for an alley oop, isn't it always called a shooting foul? Am I missing something here? I know I have seem this in other games too.
It's one action. Whatever is done in the air is one action and thus it's a shooting foul. It's the same as foul during a 2 steps layup, they call continuation on that and award And1.
This. Why do you see players throw the ball towards the hoop when they get fouled, even when they were going to pass at first? And they get to the FT line more often than not.
My question was, what does his feet hitting the floor before he took the shot have anything with the discussion?
Those players have possession of the ball, and by throwing it at the hoop, can try to argue that they were in a shooting motion when they were fouled. In the highlight, Kobe didn't have possession of the ball when he was fouled. How can you be in a shooting motion when you don't have the ball?
It was basically a late call, notice the whistle was when Kobe was already on the other side throwing up the shot. So now the ref calls continuation like he's suppose to. Some could say it's a superstar call but since it happened in a split second and most would say there was a foul, it isn't the egregious call that many are trying to make it as.
It's a superstar call. Kidd doesn't touch Kobe after Kobe catches the ball. The push came as Kobe was elevating, but before he caught the ball. It's not egregious, but it's not surprising since it's Kobe Bryant.
that the basket shouldn't have count since it's an alley oop, once your foot hit the ground the play should be dead. I do not get a chance to make a quick play at the basket once my foot has touch the floor on an alleyoop. Player goes up for an alley, catches the ball and gets foul, hits the floor and throw up a quickie for an and 1.. no bueno, no beuno..
haha, even as he is elevating, that means he has began the motion for shooting and has already intended to catch and shoot the ball, given this is an alleyoop. That is a clear foul and basket there and has been consistently called in that regard.
Then its a dumbass way to call fouls... It's called a shooting foul - fouled while in the act of shooting... kinda hard to be shooting when u dont even have the ball yet...until u catch the ball, all yer doing is jockeying for position... of course whatta ya expect, the NBA is becomig like pro wrestling - flash over substance and fundamentals....
