We actually did pretty much go for it last season when we spent so much money fixing the defense and now as a result, an off season later a lot of guys had to be let go one way or another. How do the Eagles do it though, they have big money guys at every position except for safety.
He isn't worth a first rounder considering what he's going to have to get paid. Don't kid yourself in thinking that the texans have any business offering a big contract to a WR. Really...for your own sake don't kid yourself.
The Eagles went 8-8 last year with all their marquee players and missed the playoffs. Maybe signing an abundance of overpriced, "name" vets isn't the way to go?
Mike Wallace averaged 62 yards/game over the last 13 games. If I were the Steelers, I would not pay him top 5 WR money. I'd gladly pick up a 1st round pick and pay Antonio Brown next offseason.
Schaub's deep ball accuracy is much better than Roethlisberger's. How many times does this need to be addressed on here? http://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2011/10/21/signature-stats-snapshot-deep-passing/ http://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2011/05/10/going-deep/
people will never get it if they haven't already. People confuse strong arm for accurate. Schaub is very accurate on his deep balls and completes a good percent of them. But the only thing people seem to focus on is that he didn't hit them in stride.
I can only guess that trading Demeco was clearing space for Wallace. Rick shouldn't worry about 2013 until after this season. It is a 'win now' league.
It actually added money to this year's cap - they are not going to be able to offer Wallace a contract without additional cuts. Don't hold your breath. They can get a younger, cheaper version of Wallace with their pick - why give that up? That kind of thinking is what got them into their current situation. They're being very smart - they're taking a one-year hit on Foster and jettisoning higher-priced veterans with capable, cheaper back-ups now to further absord hits. Develop them, draft their replacements - lather, rinse, repeat. Next year, when we have ample cap space, when we don't have to fret over losing our top FAs, everyone will look back at this offseason and go, "Awwww... Ok, I get it now." They're ripping off the band-aid.
Well this settles it. Reportedly Wallace wants more than Fitzgerald money. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...ld-49ers-he-wants-more-than-larry-fitzgerald/
I like Mike Wallace and I think he's definitely worth a 1st rounder. I'd even say he's easily a top 10 WR in the league. But more money than Larry Fitzgerald??? Or even anywhere close to that?
It's a marginal concern, certainly not a significant one. I'd rather take sure 50 yard gain than an iffy 70 yard
I would be ok with paying around 7-9 Million for him. I believe AJ has an avg. Salary of 9 Mil. No way he should be getting paid more than AJ. EDIT: Top 10 Paid WRs.
