Not saying Gabbert was a good pick or has the skill, but if you understand NFL protocol, you understand that when you invest a top 15 pick in a QB, you better give him at least 2 solid seasons of "growing pains" or else you admit to your fan base you have no idea what you're doing. Adding Tebow, who anyone with a brain understands is not an NFL QB is admitting defeat way too early. Doesn't matter how bad Gabbert sucks, he was taken high in the first round and therefore protocol mandates he needs to be given his mandatory 2 seasons to show something. Now we see Jacksonville back-tracking and acting like Gabbert is their sun and stars.
heard Tebows conference call last night, pretty class guy...bad situation for both of them, trainwreck waiting to happen...Not sure if Jags would've been the best spot given Gabbert, but oh well, jets problem now
okay, i don't care one way or the other about the jags. if they are staying, great for you. but why then, didn't they do everything in their power to bring tebow (and his seat-filling ability) home to florida? did tim just reject you outright?
Why not? Tebow is a proven winner. The jets are a defensive team who wants their offense to control the clock. Having Tebow in there as an option, running the option, running the ball, throwing short passes will help them control the clock. I think it makes a lot of sense for the Jets to do this.
Tebow will be successful in NY. With their defense and offensive mentality, he'll be a perfect fit. Hell, they don't even ask Sanchez to throw much. This jets team and mentality is similar to the Ravens who won the superbowl with Trent Dilfer. The jets can do the same with Tebow and Sanchez. I'm sure Tebow will get some PT at fullback and Tight End as well. He'll probably also hold for kicks which will open up trick plays on fake FGs and he'll most likely be in there when 2pt conversions are needed.
too funny. the more i think of it, the more genius i see in the move. i think tebow is smart enough to realize that for all his considerable talents, traditional NFL qb is not one of them. i now think they will keep sanchez and use tebow in all types of sets, both conventional and not. for all we like to make fun of him we gotta admit that dude is a stud and if you put him in a position to excel at what he's good at, he will. wheeeeeeeeee, this is gonna be a wild ride.
People seem to forget that Brad Smith can actually throw a football and catches it too. Tebow can run and shed some tackles, fire a few lasers into the dirt. Not gonna be too hard to load the box against him.
I'm not going to make any more outrageous claims, I have been sufficiently humbled. I will continue to give opinions and leave them at that.
You bet on the wrong horse, for sure. I offered you an ocho cinco bet that you would've completely pwned me in, but you took the te-bait instead.
i'm no tebow fan but i have front row seats to the upcoming circus. do you not believe there is a way to utilize tebow effectively? i just find the whole thing:
I think situational players are good for keeping the defense honest, and having to make a defense add an additional game plan for the Tebow package makes them have to be more prepared which isn't a bad thing. If I was the Jets I would put Tebow in in all goal line situations, he's almost guaranteed to punch it in from short yardage.
I thought we at least made some sort of minor bet. I really think Ocho was never the same after getting destroyed by Revis back to back. Brady already had Welker, Gronk and Hernandez, Branch turned out to be that 4th guy.

well, the steelers did that in the playoffs (loading the box against Tebow) and they paid the price, 300 yards passing, especially that 80-yard play in OT. and remember the steelers were the defense #1 against the pass.
1. It is bad form to "quote" someone but totally not quoting them. 2. Why you equating the Jaguars with me? I am not the Jaguars. They did try to get Tebow, but yes Tebow did essentially reject the Jaguars. No one knows why though you could argue he thinks the Jets were a better team, because he feels they wanted him more, or he wanted to be in NY, or he just didn't want to have to be the savior for his hometown again. Even on the Jaguars, while the owner wanted Tebow, the coaches did not because they are new coaches and they want to try a more conventional approach. Can't fault them for that too much. If your not gonna totally buy into what Tebow can do and mold an offense around him, there is no point in faking it.
300 yards passing on like 10 completions because of completely blown coverages on seam routes. Can you say aberration?
The question is . . . . Can he Catch. I seriously think Tebow can make a hell of a H-Back Rocket River
