15,7, and 3 in 24 mins...7 of 11 shooting...changing teammates may prove to be just what he needed and he just might get the 14, if he keeps it up. <iframe width="640" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/yF9iyvLhbhA" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Jordan got 4 yrs/43 million or 10.7 mil per year. There is no reason why McGee won't get at least that much. He is going to get paid more than Jordan and he is better than Jordan too.
Copied out these posts from the other McGee thread to edit in the original post the YouTube of his game-winning tip last night. I have no idea how that trade will pan out, but I honestly never thought Nene was worth the money the Rockets and Nuggets were willing to give him. Not down on him as a player... I know he's very solid on both ends of the floor, but just too expensive imo. McGee has a lot to learn I'm sure, but intriguing with that wingspan, height and athleticism. If he gets it together....
That ws a high bball IQ play right there. Haven't seen this kind of smarts from a big guy wearing #34 since The Dream.
He's lucky the shot was missed. Otherwise, there's probably a good chance he would have committed an offensive goaltending instead and been the goat instead of the hero.
I think Nene is worth the money for the right team if he bounces back to his performance level in prior (non-lockout) years when he didn't come in out of shape. My only worry would be the length of the contract and his age (the contract will pay him until age 33). As for the $ amount, $13 mil a year for Nene is just the way the center position is. If you want to go cheaper, you either get "still rather raw" (DeAndre Jordan) or "clearly one rung below" (Sam Dalembert, who I think is pretty good value, actually). For all the attention paid to McGee's game winning dunk, Nene had 22 pts, 10 rebounds and 2 assists with 9-13 FG shooting in a blowout win for the Wizards. Pretty good night, too. Random curiousity: I wonder if Morey will try to trade for Nene on draft night or in the offseason.
they got blown out the other night and they would've lost to the Pistons at home if not for a series of boneheaded moves at the very end.
Damn man McGee got some quicks! He left his man behind covered in dust. Somewhere in Washington, John Wall is crying.
Scared me there for a sec, i thought someone hacked into my account  I didn't see the winning tip, but it means something for Karl to have him out there in crunch time. I wonder what Washington wanted in return, from Houston, for him.. He can get 18/10/3 with starter's minutes...that's worth at least 10-12. If he really focuses, 23/12/3.5-4 is definitely possible. That's worth at least 13-14.
Based on production anyway... but not sure how he'll handle the pressure of crunch time, being a go to guy, or how good his moves can or will be.
That was a very good play by McGee, but the real issue there was an absolutely HORRENDOUS boxout attempt by Greg Monroe. Hey, Greg. PUT A BUTT ON YOUR GUY!!! (And, yes, I realize the jokes referencing this comment are coming in 3, . . . 2, . . . 1 . . .) As for Nene, Clutch is right that he's probably not worth $14M per season . . . unless you were already capping yourself out with another star (Gasol), which was the approach the Rockets were taking. With Gasol and even a more affordably-priced Nene, the Rockets would likely not have had much (if any) cap room to add significant NEW pieces around those two, Lowry, Lee and the young kids. That would be left to draft picks, trades and MLE-type signings.
I was at this game last night. The 7 of 11 shooting was strictly junkyard dog stuff and alley oops. Which is great, but no one should think JaVale has an offensive game any more than Jordan Hill does. No plays are called for McGee. McGee is a taller, longer version of Hill (which is exciting), and if he plays with enthusiasm all the time like last night, he will win DPOY soon.
