Looking at the schedule and seeing Dallas 3 more times got me thinking, with Phoenix and Utah hot on our tails we can not afford to be sweeped by Dallas, but if that happenned there is a good chance Dallas would end up a top ten team and we would not make it into the playoffs.

Would you rather us miss the playoffs and have 3 1st round picks this year or make the playoffs and have one.

I would go for the picks in this deep draft. Just look at our records on the road. Very unlikely we can make out of the first round. It also depends on Lowry's health. Without a reliable backup PG, I just don't see it we can make it.

Always try as hard as you can to win every game, and let the chips fall where they may.

I don't care what the circumstances are. There is no reason to want to lose to Dallas. Ever.

Besides, I'd rather have a lotto pick in 2018 than a 22nd pick in 2012.

playoffs is just another 1st round exit. what we should have done is start tanking. now we have a bunch of contract-year players who are going to fled in the offseason because morey is not gonna be willing to pay them more than 3 million a year.

We should pay our debt to NJ asap. This would open up flexibility in terms of future picks (many of us believe that we are a star away from winning, teams which trade stars usually want firsts). As of right now it is the 16th pick, the highest it could be is 12-14. Hardly worth tanking for.

I'd rather have Dallas be middle of the pack or suck from now until 2018. Unprotected>>>>Top 20 Protected.

Just hoping Milwaukee gets that playoff spot.

It feels good winning. How many of you can't say you didn't enjoy beating the Lakers last night?

I'd take two firsts and get rid of the Nets obligation.

Too late to get a high pick, if we start losing we will probably end up 9-12th and that's not enough. Might as well make the playoffs and see what we can do. We've suffered enough through this terrible locked-out shortened season.

If you would have said last years draft, or the 2010 draft.. Then i would have said Playoffs for sure

But this draft has a LOT of players who stayed in college( because of the uncertainity of the NBA Lockout)

In Last Years NBA DRAFT Perry Jones goes in the Top 8 EASILY... This year we could steal him later in the top 15.. Same as Meyers Leonard.... As long as the teams above keep overrated guys like Tyler Zeller, and Thomas Robinson... just means more chances for us to get better players

Also remmeber the name... I said the same thing about Evan Turner before he shot up draft boards...... Moe Harkless... If we werent already locked down with Chandler Parsons.. i would have seriously considered being intrested in him

    It's honestly a win-win situation.

The rockets are in a situation no other team is in. And that is we can make the playoffs while still getting a lottery pick (Knicks) as well as a late first round (mavs). With a little bit of luck and the Knicks losing the Rockets could start a rebuilding process while still making the playoffs.

Yes we would probably lose in the first round to the Thunder, but crazier things have happend. Playoff atmosphere is sweet and I would hate to give that up just to have the 14th pick...again

Exactly. Dallas might make the playoffs every year until 2020 for all we know

Yeah, it'll be an unprotected 2018 pick if the Dallas still owes us then. But it is not necessarily a lotto pick. Could be a 30th pick...

    These.

Also, the poll really oversimplifies the issue. It really should be:

    (A) Miss the playoffs, get 3 first rounders in the middle to late first round, still owe a future (lottery-protected) first round pick to New Jersey, and be hamstrung in trading future first round picks for the next few years

    or

    (B) Make the playoffs, get 1 first round pick in the middle of the first round, still be owed a future (top-20 protected) first round pick from Dallas (which could possibly become an unprotected 2018 first round pick), and be freed up to trade all future first round picks in trades

This also doesn't account for the possibility of still getting the Mavericks' pick even if we make the playoffs. That is still very possible, if not MORE probable than getting either 3 or 1 pick.

Wow. I just took a look at harkless. Amazing athlete. 18 years old and still growing. Great rebounder, good shotblocker amazing athlete. His only glaring weakness is bad 3 point shooting but becoming a spot up 3 point shooter is one of the easiest things to develop and he is so young.

I love Willie Barton as a late round first. But if we could nab this guy I wouldn't hesitate for a second. He might even be worth it as a 15th pick. I don't care how many wings we have if this guy is not a wacko and you can get him with a late first rounder you take him.

Anybody who says this isn't a deep draft doesn't know what they are talking about. I see players in the late first that are better than mid first rounders. This is a great year two have 3 firsts. The thing is players like Harrison Barnes and Austin Rivers don't impress me as much as Harkless and Barton.

I'd rather have the picks. Just being honest. A week of playoff basketball or the potential to package the 3 picks to move up...or add 3 new parts....I'll take either of the latter over the first. I'm not enamored with playoff appearances in the NBA, where more teams get in than stay out.

Guys, it doesn't matter where the Knicks finish or how low the 1st round pick from the Mavs lands. This is one of those very good drafts where many gems will be found. I am going to nickname this the "Draft of Gems". Will already have two 1st round picks in it. If we make the right moves beforhand, we could end up with 2-3 more.

Exactly, the pick from DAL and the pick owed to NJ don't just disappear, they are simply delayed. Also, the DAL pick can still be traded come June even if it's not owed this year. It is simply an asset.
