Okay after losing Winston, Briesel, Dreesen, Mario, and Ryans we still don't have some cap room there is something wrong.

    Going to miss you Demeco.

I'm fine with this. Just sad to see Ryans go. Definitely a leader and one of the optimal guys you love to have on your team.

So does this give them room to sign all their draft picks plus maybe a decent free agent for depth? I know some dude who said this gives them room to go after Mike Wallace.

7.5 million off the books... that should cover our draft picks and a few FAs we get while dumpster diving.

What's crazier is that the Eagles are continuing to take on salary.

    Next man up. :(

I started a thread in the season on if we should be worrying about DeMeco, I guess we don't have to anymore.

Hmmm... I guess the Texans are setting themselves up for Brown and Barwin extensions next year. Isn't the cap supposed to go up?

the big cap jump doesn't come til 2014 IIRC.

those extensions may be exactly what this move was about.

i'm pleased we got what we got for him.

Other than emotional ties what's not to like about this move?

Demeco is a great guy and a smart player but it seemed that Cushing had already taken over the leadership role.

We're losing some guys that have been a big part of the community but on the field we should be fine.

This is why I question moving DeMeco now, there are virtually no good #2 receivers available. Had they cut DeMeco and Jacoby 2 weeks ago, they would have cleared nearly 12 million in cap space and been able to go after a competent #2, had they cut Walter, they could have out bid anyone in the NFL for the receiver of their choice, or added Landry and a receiver.

Looks like they are gearing up to pay everyone after next year. Get ready for a huge Schaub contract next offseason. :(

I am almost positive that is wrong. I believe he took misinformation and ran with it.

Jumps in 2013, coinciding with the cap floor going way up.

It's correct, we already signed that check last year. For cap purposes it gets spread across the term of the contract but when you trade him, since you paid it, it gets totally dumped on this year.

rick smith is on fire (excluding jacoby) right now. a better 3rd (12 spots) and an extra 4th is great for a player that doesn't fit our system anyway.
