The value of a top five second round draft pick might actually be higher than a late first, on account of not having to guarantee a salary for the second round pick according to the rookie wage scale. High second round picks have little leverage, so like Chase Budinger and Chandler Parsons you can lock them up for barely anything for four years, with team options on the last two. That's as team-friendly a contract as you'll get.

I'm down for trading Martin and Scola to playoff contenders for their 1st round picks. Maybe even Lowry. All three of them can be replaced in such a deep draft.
