In the US, much of the mid-20th century German immigration was of German Jews with German family names. So, those names are often associated with Jews instead of Germans. I don't know if he has any Jews in his family history, but it is a reasonable guess in the American context. It doesn't really matter either way -- I doubt this incident has much to do with his Semitic or German roots. That'll be nice and all, but part of this story is the potential for dereliction of duty on the part of the Sanford PD. If they are not inclined to press the case against Zimmerman, how careful a job have they done on forensics? There have already been allegations that they've tried to steer witnesses. The evidence may never all come to light and who knows what charges might be brought.
No need to get personal about things. Irrefutable evidence will not always exist for every case. You have to convict based on reasonable doubt. Your doubts thus far, in my opinion, are unreasonable. We'll just have to disagree on that, I'm afraid.
I think my doubts about whether this is manslaughter or something worse are perfectly reasonable and others have agreed with me.
pretty much I just find it interesting This is a major issue for me. No one has told me how it is ok to just ignore orders from the cops Rocket River
I looked on google maps. The gated community appears to have three streets in it. Zimmerman's story would be laughable if it weren't tragic. I don't know why you guys continue to argue with littletroll. He doesn't care about any facts like this, he just wants to stir everyone up.
http://www.slate.com/articles/news_..._martin_s_killer_hasn_t_been_prosecuted_.html The story of Trayvon Martin’s death is heartbreaking. If you have missed the facts: The 17-year-old, who is black, was walking to a friend’s home in a gated community in Sanford, Fla., when a neighborhood-watch volunteer*, 28-year-old George Zimmerman, spotted him. Zimmerman, whose father says identifies as Hispanic, called the cops to report a suspicious person. Doesn't really change what happened to me, other than it is another example of people jumping to conclusions....
I know. You want it to be a story about a white kid shooting a black kid because he was black. That's the narrative you want to be told here. White people shoot black people because white people hate black people. Believe me, it comes as no surprise to me that you feel that way. It's as expected as BigTexx going all "haha racist comment. Wait how dare you call me racist!"
I don't buy that, the race angle is a ratings bonanza for the media. If Zimmerman and Martin were the same race I am skeptical that it would be getting as much attention as it has. I cannot believe a child is dead over all this..... Trayvon wasn't an adult yet. I do not know exactly how that factors into this whole equation, but I was far less experienced and my decision making was different at his age.
There are a lot of pages here but what are the doubts exactly? Based on Zimmerman's own statements it seems clear that Martin's race played a role in targeting him. It's also very probable based on Zimmerman's history that he knew these laws regarding self-defense and that by his pursuit of a teen in the dark and in the rain that he fully intended to confront this kid. It's not very reasonable to believe that this kid would attack someone much larger than him that was pursuing him in the dark. Martin's inclination was apparently to flee, not to fight. The police here completely screwed his up by simply taking Zimmerman's word which is completely ridiculous. Apparently they didn't even give Zinmwrman a drug or alcohol test at the time. Was this not the evening of the super bowl? His speech sounded pretty rough on the tapes. It makes it look like some zealous liquored up wanna be cop tried to intimidate a teenage kid and then freaked out and shot him.
I wonder how many young black teen age males have been killed by other blacks since Martin was killed.
If it is true that they did check for alcohol and drugs on the person that got shot, but not on the person who fired the shot that killed, that is very odd and could be an indication of bias.
your facts are all screwed up it was the NBA all star game, not the Super Bowl then you just made stuff up
[QUOTEOriginally Posted by Nook I don't buy that, the race angle is a ratings bonanza for the media. I live in America man.....no black man is going to get the benefit of the doubt from shooting a child and claiming self-defense. If Zimmerman was black, he would be in jail waiting for his trial date and this story would have only made the local news. The police would have done its job by arresting someone who shoot a unarmed kid and made him stand trial and judged by his peers.
