THE WALKING DEAD Has Voted In Its Governor!!

Published at: Feb 24, 2012 6:46:27 PM CST

    SPOILER ALERT !!

One-handed Merle Dixon (Michael Rooker) will not morph into The Governor.

Britisher David Morrissey (“State of Play”) will play “The Governor” in the 16-episode third season of “The Walking Dead,” AMC has confirmed.

The Governor, who rules the Woodbury survivors, will presumably serve as lawman Rick’s chief adversary once
    Shane Walsh gets eaten.

Just pasting the article. However, it's been hinted in a few other articles....But it seems that it's going to happen in S2 so I didn't want to post more.

Ha ha, yeah it made too much sense. I'm still mad about Tyreese...or the lack thereof.

I also think once we see Merle back in the show, he has his own group and for sure it'll side different from Rick's and Daryl now has to make a decision who to side with on that one...

It will be hard, but I'm going to avoid this thread until Season 3 starts. Spoilers completely ruin things for me.

I think Merle will be a prisoner of the governor, part of his fighting cages.

Not sure what the rules are about spoilering in this thread lol.

I'm not sure if we'll see Meryle again. From both his appearance and Daryl's comments about him on The Talking Dead, I got the sense that Michael Roker (Meryl) has some serious substance abuse issues. If nothing else it will be for a quick death scene to wrap up his storyline.

This a spoiler, so don't click if you want to be spoiled:

The character is 100% coming back. Michale Rooker confirmed it at a convention and revealed he needed to lose a lot of weight for the role.

Wow. Really? That sucks. I'll have to look up those episodes. Rooker seems like he's been in every third or fourth movie, for decades, ever since he was great in Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer.

I have it on good authority that Merle is coming back.

Kirkman said as much on the Talking Dead after the finale.
