I don't think there is any question that Tibs is the unanimous choice for COY. Are there other coaches having great years, yes. Has anyone been as impressive as Thibs? no. His team which is not traditionally talented with one big star in Rose has dealt with so many injuries to their star and 2nd most valuable player, yet they are still number one in the NBA and also beating really good teams with the injuries. His defensive philosophy and attention to detail is just taking this team to new levels
Thibs ride his players hard. He tries to get 100% out of his players every game. I'm not sure if that works in the long run in the NBA.
Thats why a wuss like Dwight who doesn't want to be screamed at critisized or lebron how laso hates being critisized(man dwight and lebron should play together, a deadly most athletic team of mentally weak players). But another thing is, is there any doubt that Derrick Rose is the MVP of the team? Yet they can clearly and easily win without him, so what abotu those people whho make the arguments taht when a team can win without him means he isn't mvp. Team dynamic and chemistry is always overlooked, a player isn't the only reason they win, btu he sets a culture and is their leader. Just like Rose's work ethic and kobe's work ethic makes the team work harder when there best player is that disciplined
I m so fed up that people keep saying the Bulls are one man Derrick Rose team. The Bulls are the most stacked team in the league. Rose & Boozer are both all star caliber player. Noah, Brewer, Asik and Gibson are all decent players. This is not a ONE man team!
Doug Collins will probably get it, especially since Thibs was COTY last year. Adelman should also be in the conversation.
Adelman does not deserve it, especially after not getting it with the Rockets in 2008 / 2011. Doug Collins definitely deserves it behind Thibs.
What do you mean not traditionally talented? Do-it-all SF: Deng Low post scorer: Boozer/Taj Gibson Rebounder/defensive banger/blocking the paint: Noah, Asik Vet SG: Rip Hamilton So the reality is Rose or no Rose, the Bulls are a stacked team and would be a playoff team in the West. In the LEASTERN conference, they would be 2nd round team even without rose. I think Thibs is an amazing up-and-coming coach but at the same time, his style seems to be a clone of JVG and coaches Doug Collins and esp. Motie Williams are doing more with less.
I don't think you've watched the Bulls much. Deng hasn't done much at all and he's had a left wrist injury for about 2 months now. Rip Hamilton has only played 10-15 games. Boozer isn't a low-post scorer, neither is Taj Gibson really. Both get their pts off of great cuts and/or mid-range jump shots usually which are set up by Rose, but Boozer especially is the guy thats usually inconsistent from what Bulls fans tell me. You think they're good enough to beat an EC team without their star? The EC isn't a joke anymore from 1-7 seeds, 8th seed is the only seed I'd say has a sub par team and even that right now is looking good with the Knicks. The playoffs are a different animal and scoring will come tough if you don't have a guy that can't break down a defense. I didn't fully watch the Magic/Bulls game yesterday but judging by the score, they only had 85 points. That's not exactly great offense. The reason they win is primarily due to defense and rebounding -- they still need Rose to beat teams offensively. From time to time, you'll have guys like John Lucas step up like that Miami/Bulls game, but that's not going to happen every night. Their defense is really good and their ball does move better (at least from what I've seen) when Rose is out but they still need Rose in those crunch time games in order to win and that's how playoffs usually are. They wouldn't have beat those Pacers last season without Rose.
I thought Mr. Pringles deserves it for realizing the potential of Lin, most probably a future superstar. Too bad he resigned.
