Very nice Bobrek... And big ups to you... That's one of my bucket list activities to do... But as for now Im perfectly fine getting close and personal with wild game , watching Big Cat Diary... No way, would I attempt to reach out to pet any wild animal..lol
Wow! Bobrek, that is just unreal. I'm terribly jealous. The only part of Africa that I've spent any time in is Egypt, which is pretty far out, as well, but totally different, of course. I was trying to recall what camera you ended up with. It certainly took some terrific images. I had a similar experience at a jungle game preserve in southern India, up in the Western Ghats. We were able to ride through the preserve on top of a huge elephant, right through herds of critters that simply ignored us, and stayed the night there, with some big cat roaring in the darkness, and a tremendous racket that our guide said were two elephants duking it out. He showed us the large expanse of trampled ground. This was quite some time back, when my father was doing some work for USAID in Bangalore in the 1960's, and he took the family. Thank goodness, I was not a kid. Anyway, like I said, I'm jealous! -
*cough cough* almost as good as my travel pictures *cough cough* Seriously though, great pics.
Great pics Bobrek! Nice pics of India too s land balla. Maybe I will get off my butt and post my pics from Australia...
I uploaded original sized photos to flickr and added new ones. A lot more detail in these: http://www.flickr.com/photos/55439965@N08/sets/72157629614015133/
We ran into very few people that did not speak English. In Kenya and Tanzania we had someone with us most of the time, so in case we weren't understood, they could speak for us. In South Africa, they spoke Afrikanz (sp?) which seems to be a lot of Dutch. Again, almost everyone we ran into spoke English as well.
Those were the easiest to get. At one camp we were always able to find the mom, dad and cubs on the big rock.
At the first camp, the Ghost was wandering around by our tented room in the Darkness while we were trying to sleep.
Thanks for sharing. Something like this was never on my list of things to do before I die. Now it is.
