I'll go ahead and spoiler this one sheet for season two, but if you're reading this thread you should know what happened at the end of season one: Spoiler
Just finished the second book. Freaking awesome. May be the best fantasy stuff I've ever enjoyed reading. Can't wait for the start of season 2 on the show. I'm going to finish rewatching season 1 in the next 2 weeks to get myself ready.
As expected, DVD sales are goin great. HBO purchased the second season during the middle of the first season iirc. Hopefully these numbers forebode an impending third season purchase.
Ha, yeah, you say "middle" of the first season, but they actually picked up season 2 only days after the season 1 premiere. And as you mention, with the DVD sales like they are, season 3 seems like a guarantee.
Spoiler dude i just read this yesterday and it devastated me seriously devastated me, the wolf too, caitlyn, but i have the same thoughts about jon snow, that should have been the foreshadow we saw
Spoiler Ned and Robb's pretty much made me throw the books at the wall in disgust. That's how invested I was.
just bought a 60" 3d plasma in anticipation for the second season, should be here next week. *pumped*

There really should be a separate thread for the books. Its stupid to talk about the books that can really, really ruin things for people that haven't read them. I'm one that has read the entire series (more than once) and it is a real disservice to the greatness of the stories to ruin it for people that do not know what is going to happen. The TV show and the books are completely separate entities and should be treated as such.
Thats what the "Spoiler" tags are for. Hopefully people who have not read the series will not click into the spoiler tags but that is their decission. This thread is the most natural place for me to discuss the books because if not for the series I would not be reading the books. Plus the 1st season of the series did such a great job at following the book keeping much of the same dialog as the GoT. I'm hopping they follow CoK in the 2nd season as well they followed GoT in the 1st. Personally I can't wait for the season to start so I can discuss (with out spoiler tags) some of the major events in CoK.
So many epic situations in SoS and it the plot just keeps getting thicker and thicker. I'm almost done with SoS and it seems like every chapter now has one of those "I did not see that coming" moments in it.
Spoilers for the show and spoilers from the books are very different. Of course that's just my opinion and we know what those are like.
i'm not opposed to having a separate discussion thread of the books, even the mention of a characters name being in a later book can be a spoiler
Yeah a book thread would be good, and a no book spoiler discussion. I try to remain some what vague even when discussing spoilers that have been tagged in this thread to avoid ruining it accidentally, and I agree even saying that so and so has a chapter in a later book can be considered a spoiler for someone. Anyway back to the show, there are two new character profile videos up for Rob and Stannis: <object style="height: 390px; width: 640px"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/NApAtmugS1c?version=3&feature=player_embedded"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/NApAtmugS1c?version=3&feature=player_embedded" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="640" height="360"></object> <object style="height: 390px; width: 640px"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/VARwvVJxnYw?version=3&feature=player_embedded"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/VARwvVJxnYw?version=3&feature=player_embedded" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="640" height="360"></object>
I tend to agree. I haven't read the books so going through this thread is almost impossible because most seem to be discussing the books and what not, not the actual TV show. From what I've gathered there are lots of major spoilers for watch will come down the road on the TV show that's happened in the books.
Stephen Dillane was a great choice for Stannis. Davos is perfect. And I think Carice Van Houten's accent works really well for Mel. Spoiler-ish I guess, though it's really just speculation: Spoiler IMDB has Sean Bean appearing in Episode 10. I wonder why? Maybe in one of Bran's deams? Could just be a mistake
