One thing is for sure. The system will be WAY less point guard dominant. The offense will most likely run through Melo. Woodson uses a lot of Iso's which is playing to Melo's strength. Carmelo didn't fit in AT ALL with Dantoni's scheme. Look for Lin to take less shots overall, and probably make less assists/turnovers as well...
I believe they still have the 8th seed in the East, no? My guess is they end up between 10th-8th place, but to be on the safe side, we'll say they end up 12th. That puts them behind the four bottom East teams, plus the two ****ty teams in the West (Sacramento and New Orleans). which puts them at sixth, and I wouldn't be surprised if that hornets' owned twolves pick wins the lottery. Quite frankly, even if New York does get a top pick, I don't see how they're that much better. They have talent and star power, what they need is a coach and attitude adjustments.
Nice analysis. The Knicks currently have the 9th seed, and the 9th pick in the draft. Their strength of schedule does not bode well for them. The improvement to the Bucks does not bode well for them either. I'd say it's certainly looking more like a top 10 pick.
This is the problem though. Davis plays the same position as Lin, but he didn't explode under D'Antoni's system like Lin did. The same applies to Mike Bibby, he didn't thrive in D'Antoni's system the way Lin did. I guess we will see how much Lin's success is tied to the system in the near future, but I seriously doubt that Davis, in any system, is better than Lin at this point.
If I recall correctly, the players that Lin played with during the streak were more effective than the current Amare/Melo lineup. Those are the players that Davis gets to play with in the second unit. If the system is PG oriented then Davis should benefit as much regardless of whether he starts or not.
In my humble opinion, as long as Melo continues to play for the Knicks this year, our pick will only continue to look better. Amare needs to be fed the ball to be effective and is somewhat serviceable on the defensive end. Melo also needs to be fed the ball to be effective, but unlike Amare, he seems completely disinterested in contributing on the defensive end. For every team with multiple stars, there needs to be an hierarchy with an established ace or primary weapon. IMHO while Amare is clearly the more effective player, Melo needs to be either traded or Amare plays 2nd fiddle seeing as Melo clearly does not play his game in the best interests of the team. I honestly do not think the two can coexist and need a team to be built around their skill sets exclusively to be successful.
New Jersey only 4 1/2 games back of the Knicks, gotta believe they will make a push for the playoffs now with Wallace and with Lopez coming back in a couple of weeks.
Yea, and the scary part about it is that they can potentially win 5 more games in a row before they play Orlando. Tue, Mar 20 vs Toronto Wed, Mar 21 @ Philadelphia Fri, Mar 23 @ Toronto Sat, Mar 24 vs Detroit Mon, Mar 26 vs Milwaukee Wed, Mar 28 vs Orlando
