Rocky trained punching racks of meat and chicken chasing. We don't need all that flash though some new uniforms would be nice.
All other things money being equal? It depends on the players. A winning situation could be important to some. A good place to raise their kids or be near family could be important to others. A nightlife can be important. Are there other top-level players there already could be important. We're getting to a point where guys want to get paid and get a ring, and they realize they're not doing it on their own. There's no one answer - it depends on the players you're trying to acquire.
oh goodness me Rockets plane does look awful, but I'm not sure this is the team plane. These pictures and the one the OP has up there was taken from the 2010 trip to china. Do they use the same plane for an international flight? With the time spent in the air in an NBA season I would hope/expect the Owners to splurge on a comfortable plane and equally comfortable team accommodations. We all know how cheap Les is though; I'm sure he doesn't splurge on the little things. Who wouldn't want to be a tradeable asset in palatial digs? Check Mavs Plane after championship http://www.nba.com/video/channels/nba_tv/2011/06/16/20110616_mavs_plane.nba
No but it seems to me that if everything else is equal your going to go to the team treats you like a millionaire not just 1st class. Don't think I'm saying anyone is being mistreated, I'm just wondering if Les could do more to gain an advantage or just keep pace with some of the other teams. That certainly was Cuban's approach when he 1st took over the Mav's and it has worked.
I don't see how the mavericks plane looks any better. In my experience flying room is all that really mattered and they look pretty much the same to me.
Yeah, I'd want to play in dallas because of their airplane. Their locker room.... I would sleep in there instead of my house. The team doesn't matter. The city doesn't matter. Oh no. It's all about the locker room.... and transportation
This plane was actually leased by Delta, it was a 747-400ER which is about 15 years old. The Plane we have is older but it looks more comfortable.
Nba players would not mind those pictures at all... NBA players will not want to play in houston because fans here suck, do not know how to appreciate... all they do is to cry over DM Les KMart Mistakes... I have a question, you being smater than Darryl Morrey.. What move you should have made during trade deadline? that other teams will likely accept
I think the fact that Morey low balls people and doesn't extend them gives us a black eye with agents and players. They pay attention to these things, and they want to be comfortable and believe that when someone tells you that you won't be traded, you won't be. So, yes, I think Le$ is cheap, and could provide more amenities for the players to make them feel more comfortable, and Morey could start extending guys like Lowry, Scola, Landry and Lee instead of letting the market set the price. So to answer the OP, yes, I believe players think of Houston as a 2nd rate location, not bad, but not elite by any stretch. DD
I might well be wrong on this, BUT I don't believe Howard needed to "opt in". His final year (same for Williams) is a 'player option'. There is a set date for which they need to "opt out" of such a deal. All Howard was doing was signing a piece of paper suggesting that he will not opt out (or possibly legally waiving his right to do so). Doesn't affect Deron at all - at the end of the season he can decide to 'opt out'. Hence NJs crazy trade move - trying to get him someone to play alongside.
Just seeing that Heat locker room only convinces me further that the team is composed of pure evil. That place looks like the conference room for the Legion of Doom for ****'s sake.
Rockets aircraft is a very old 727 aircraft. The Mav's plane in the picture is a is a 757. You should be able to see the major difference in the interiors just from the pictures. The Rockets essentially have business class seats while the Mavs have more of an executive class seating.
I'm probably just looking for needles in a haystack. The Lakers locker room doesn't look as good as the Rockets.
everyone treats non stars like assets, occasionally you get the journeyman whose a needed role player (haslem), but that's about it, heck they treat stars like assets too, in the same way as you treat that cave full of gold as though it matters.
don't think those pictures accurately show our planes, this is from parson's twitter (they may have been updated idk)
