I stopped reading right there. That just contradicts the cop telling Zimmerman to stay home and not pursue Martin.
That's two witnesses that claim they heard the black screaming. Of course it is possible that a 26 year old man who weighs 250 pounds could sound more like a boy than the 17 year old boy who was killed. Then again the scream preceded the gun shot so it follows that the person without the gun was the one with good reason to scream. But that's just too crazy to believe, we should wait for the video.
Have you heard audio tape of his voice? Who, out of the 2, is more likely to have a boy like voice? His father's story contradicts the story that we got from police.
from the beginning of this thread, why is it so long? dude got shop by a rent a cop and he was unarmed. i'm not reading this all, what's the problem?
Zimmerman (the neighborhood watch captain) may or may not have been justified in killing Martin due to reasons of self defense. Not enough facts have been made public to decide one way or the other.
HEHEHEHHEE YOU SAID THE BLACK. pgabriel it's long because there are people who are delusional in this thread. Sure it might not be black and white (no pun intended) but with all the information gathered so far it points at one person being in the wrong here.
Link The best account of what happened came from Zimmerman, Serino said. Other witnesses who saw or heard parts of what happened corroborate his version of events, the investigator said. Zimmerman told police he got out of his SUV to follow Trayvon on foot, and the 17-year-old came toward him. The two got into a fight, and Zimmerman wound up on the ground, he told police. Trayvon hit him in the face, and Zimmerman yelled for help. Several witnesses heard the fight, including a 13-year-old boy out walking his dog, but there have been different accounts of who was crying for help. It was Zimmerman, Serino said. He said he is certain of that because he played a recording of that voice for Trayvon's father, Tracy Martin, and the Miami man said the voice was not his son's.
Just as Zimmerman had the right to follow Martin, Martin had the right to move toward Zimmerman. Perhaps he found it suspicious or felt threatened that a man nearly twice his size was following him around. I suppose we still need more information about how the physical altercation started. Paragraph deleted...didn't read the article very carefully Zimmerman might be able to avoid criminal liability, but he's going to have a hard time proving he had no tort liability since he consciously chose to ignore the dispatchers instructions. He's definitely losing the civil suit to follow.
Don't get me wrong. I still think Zimmerman's very much at fault here. Unfortunately, it's virtually impossible for the DA to prove beyond all reasonable doubt Zimmerman started the fight. In the ensuing a civil suit, there isn't a jury in the world that would believe Zimmerman's not tortiously liable. His jumping to conclusions and intentionally ignoring police instructions led to an easily avoidable death. The criminal justice system may not punish him for his boneheadedness, but he'll most likely be paying Martin's family a sizeable cut of his paycheck for many years to come.
Just because people think differently than you doesn't mean they are immature or duped. You conveniently ignored posts where facts were brought up to challenge the self defense claim based on the Stand Your Ground statute. http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showpost.php?p=6693511&postcount=153 http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showpost.php?p=6701432&postcount=365 I guess your only goal here is to fling mud and cry like a baby when it's flung back at you. You have never attempted honest debate. It would be natural for emotions to be high in a case like this where the law protects a man that shot a child with questions still looming and no clear cut evidence.
Of course it is proven that Zimmerman confronted Martin. He says himself to the dispatcher he is going to follow Martin and admits to getting out of his car to do so. From what you post Zimmerman was close enough for Martin for Martin to turn around and come to him which means that he didn't get out a block away but was very close. By proximity alone Zimmerman started the confrontation. As other posters have noted Martin has as much a right to the public space as Zimmerman and he has as much a right to approach Zimmerman. What is crucial though is that one person was actively following the other and deliberately decided to get out of his car within a short distance from the other. That is what started the confrontation. If Zimmerman had just stayed in his car there wouldn't be a confrontation.
I don't understand why Zimmerman wasn't immediately jailed. How is it okay to initiate a confrontation, shoot the person and claim self defense when there are conveniently no eye witnesses? For F's sake, so I could go on a freaking rampage and claim self defense for every person I shoot? Sweet. If I knew it was that easy... Bigtexxx, where do you live?
Sorry, maybe I didn't get your post, but did you just threaten to kill me? possibly the most distasteful post in cf.net history. Shameful.
