Are you feed up with Moreyball strategy yet?

  1. Yes, I don't have any more faith in Morey's system. It's all his fault.

Yup, he said it's the easiest way. Not only that but he said his way is completely possible, it's not a longshot.

I do think that Morey believes it is "possible" to rebuild the way they are now. He probably even thinks he has a decent chance of doing so. But by saying that there is an easier way to improve, but the owner doesn't want to go that way, we can reasonably infer that Les made that choice, not Morey, and that Morey explained how tanking would be easier to him. This was confirmed when Les was directly asked about tanking and said he was offered that option but didn't want to go thru that process.

show me where he used the word, "easiest" in this quote.

    he never said, "easiest"

    http://rockets.clutchfans.net/1901/f...ght-be-better/

“He really believes that we need to turn the corner while remaining competitive. That’s the plan. I do think being terrible is definitely the way to get better in the NBA, but it’s not the way Mr. Alexander wants to go about it. He wants to turn the corner, get back to having a strong foundation while remaining competitive. He feels the Houston fans deserve that.”

What I got from this quote is Morey knows that tanking is the way to go about rebuilding, but Les does not want to follow that approach.

In other words, my hands are tied and I'm doing my best with what I'm given.

That is, acquire Lowry from Alston, K-Mart from Carl Landry we who brought from Sonics, Parsons from a 2nd round draft, Scola from Greek-mac and Dalembert from a signing.

thx for finding that. I think he said "easiest way" to Bill Simmons. but regardless...he definitely said "definitely" in that quote. haha

He says "I do think being terrible is THE way to get better in the NBA"

This statement does not allow for another option. Of course if you follow that out, getting "better" after being "terrible" is not really very hard. We all know that being terrible is not "the only" way to get better because we got "better" yesterday at the deadline.

Getting better when your already good is hard.

I sure wish we had some Wizard or Bobcat fans on here to make fun of us for wishing we were losers like them.

Given the inherent impreciseness of spoken language haven't you all gone way overboard in your analysis? Underlined bold prepositions???

Anytime two teams need a third club to facilitate a move, they call Morey and the Rockets first to offer them some scraps to make a larger trade happen. They know DM is always willing to trade anybody anytime as long as he feels he's getting an upgrade even though the "upgrade" may be minimal or negligible. The "wizard" needs to have a few more tricks up his sleeve, because his collecting "assets" strategy isn't working.

It sure worked well enough when we got Lowry from the Grizz

Its really funny reading the comments here though, you have guys like Kwame poking fun at Morey for trying to upgrade the team. A minimal upgrade is still an upgrade, its not a bad thing at all. Only an idiot will look at the roster preMorey and now say it isn't working.

I would be careful in this thread... You could be scarfing crow soon enough.

The last few years leading up to this last season have been painful, but what are you complaining about exactly? We made some huge moves last season, and they were all pretty good. Harden is easily a top 5 guy to build around. Asik is a monster who we have on a great contract. Same with parsons. Lin still has upside. Our record improved and we got into the playoffs after several years of being on the cusp.

All this and we stand in a great position to land another star. Maybe this poll/thread has merit AFTER this offseason and AFTER we haven't made another big move, but knowing morey my money is on a big move.... This is going to be awesome.

This thread is like...over a year old. Way to resurface it when it is completely irrelevant and from a totally different situation and time haha. THough it is funny to see how far we've come in a yr and 3 months.
